Chapter 18 Just like Ten Years Ago
A drop of tear fell so silently that Donna didn't even notice.
She picked up all the pieces and then carried them out of the dining room.
Those servants exchanged looks but dared not to say anything.
But through this, they were more certain that their master didn't care about Donna at all.
Ruby looked smug and continued, "Karli, why do you keep such a clumsy maid?"
"No need to probe; she is just a maid." He answered indifferently while cutting the food on his plate.
"What... did I probe?" Ruby instantly turned nervous.
He turned his head and stared at her. His face was expressionless, while his eyes were emotionless and cold.
Frightened by his gaze, she instinctively cringed, "I... I see."
Though appalled, she confirmed that Donna was just a pretty maid who maintained no ambiguous relationship with Karl.
...
"Karli, I don't wanna go home. Can I stay here for the night?" Ruby grabbed his hand and asked coquettishly.
"I'll ride you home." Karl sounded indifferent and unchallengeable.
"Okay then, see me home." She nodded grudgingly.
Perhaps, he wanted to go to her place.
She blushed and got into the car.
After sending her home, Karl was just about to leave when Ruby pulled him into the room, pounced on him, and kissed him fanatically.
"Karli..." Ruby exhaled hot air to the man's face.
He frowned slightly, pushed her away, and grabbed her shoulders, "What are you doing?"
"Karli, I love you... I love you!" Her voice grew more fervent, and she jumped at him again.
Karl, however, reached out his hand to cover her mouth, "Ruby, it's late, and time for bed, I should go."
Expressionless, he finished his words and turned to leave.
"Don't go!" Ruby held him from behind and cried, "Please stay, could you?"
Karl turned back, held her face, and spoke gently, "Ruby, we are not married yet. It's not appropriate for me to stay, rest early." There was a tinge of imperceptible estrangement in his voice.
"Why? I'm willing; please take me. We've been together for so long. Why wouldn't you touch me?" She hastily grabbed his hand and let him caress her face.
"Ruby, you're as pure and flawless as ten years ago." He smiled and gently stroked her face.
He would never forget what happened ten years ago.
Ruby lowered her head, a glint in her eyes. She certainly knew what happened ten years ago. Whenever it was brought up, she would feel somewhat guilty. No one except she knew the truth.
What really happened ten years ago was not like what Karl had imagined. If he learned the truth...
No, she would never let him know.
She panicked, anxious to offer herself to the man and bear his child. Only then could she rest her mind at ease.
