Chapter 3 Whoever He loved, It Wouldn't Be Her!

"Don't make me repeat myself. Christine, give me a price." Darren's tone was still frigid; coldness and detachment were clearly written on his face.

What a shock to Christine that this man would have such a cruel side!

This was not the man she was familiar with. Wasn't he a gentleman of grace who protected her when she crossed the street, chatted with her mother patiently, and complimented her mother on cooking though he didn't like it? To Christine, Darren was like a warm and brilliant sun. During the days with him, she had been totally fascinated by his tenderness.

"Darren..." She loved him so much; why did he betray her? Weren't they going to get married?

Why?

The beautiful memory came as a great irony. Her eyes pricked with tears, but she tried hard to hold them back.

"Five million! Is it enough?" Darren was only concerned about the photos. He scribbled a check of five million yuan and tore it off.

"I don't want your check." As he handed it to her, she felt a sharper ache in her eyes.

"Then what on earth do you want?" Darren was stunned when he was rejected.

He always thought that every woman, including his fiancée, liked him just because of his immeasurable wealth and his position as president of the Wright Group.

"I want to ask you some questions." Holding the phone tightly, Christine wiped away her tears and hated herself for crying.

Why did she cry for a betrayer?

She shouldn't show her weakness before an unsympathetic man.

"All right." For the photos, Darren fought to be patient with her.

"Have you ever loved me?" Getting rid of tears, she asked seriously and calmly.

"Is it necessary to ask this question? You know the answer very well." he sneered with great sarcasm on his pretty lips.

He was laughing at her stupidity.

"Don't fool yourself. If I loved you, I wouldn't have slept with another woman before our wedding. Isn't this enough to prove that I don't love you?" In the past six months, Darren hadn't even kissed Christine. "A man who loves his soon-to-be wife will want to possess her, but I don't even bother to touch you! Haven't you noticed that?"

His words were like a sharp dagger thrusting into her heart. Grieved, she took a few stumbles.

He had never loved her...

"If you don't love me, why did you get engaged to me?" He had always gazed affectionately at her, hadn't he? If he didn't love her, why did he court her with a diamond ring?

She was utterly confused.

"Engaged? To tell you the truth, I did so just for your land. You were the only holdout in my construction plan. If I hadn't cheated you and your mother away, how could I build a chemical plant there? Do you think I proposed to you for nothing? Just look at yourself in the mirror! How could I, president of the Wright Group, love a rustic like you?" he snorted mercilessly.

Whoever he loved, it would never be Christine Taylor!

He got engaged to her just for the land!
