Chapter 12 Was She Playing a Trick on Vance?

In a relaxing atmosphere, the price soon surged to 24 million yuan.

"50 million," Vance bid.

The entire hall quieted down.

They could offer a higher price, but they knew Vance would win the painting over in the end.

As such, why didn't they stop here to show their respect for him?

The auctioneer also thought it was almost the final price, but when he was about to strike the hammer...

"100 million." Tessa raised the card.

It was this girl again!

On his seat, Michael could only see her hair. Curious, he asked,

"Mr. King, does she have a grudge against..."

Seeing Vance's face, he stopped immediately.

Vance's lips were curving in an inconspicuous but playful smile.

Michael guessed: Did Mr. King want to teach her a hard lesson?

"200 million." Vance's voice was calm.

"300 million," Tessa went on.

The others present were not "poor people". But as the price increased by 100 million, they couldn't help exclaiming.

They were really the rich!

Besides, Tessa's background was such a mystery that they looked at her curiously and admirably.

Ashley pinched her fingers with her nails. She should have been the one to be envied!

Samuel was also confused.

Boss certainly didn't want to buy the painting. Was she playing a trick on Vance?

Vance hesitated but still raised the card, bidding 400 million.

Samuel realized something and pressed Tessa's card down at once. He whispered to her,

"Boss, he must have noticed you. If you keep on bidding, he'll hate you."

If she raised the card again, Vance would lose 200 million yuan.

There was a bottom in everyone's pocket. Few people could be as rich as her uncle!

Tessa was puzzled.

Were men all that mean?

But Samuel was an expert in this expert.

So she gave up bidding.

The auctioneer hammered the desk and announced the item was obtained by Vance.

After the auction, there was a banquet. Vance stayed, but he just sat in a quiet corner alone.

"Ah, we're so lucky! Vance is there!"

The women spotted him instantly as if they had taken radar with them.

"Why did he attend the banquet?"

"Who knows? Perhaps he's lonely and wants someone's company. I'll try my luck with him!"

A woman adjusted her low-cut dress and twisted her waist as she approached Vance.

"Mr. King, may I sit down here?"

Vance didn't even lift his eyelids. "No."

The woman didn't get angry. She just smiled self-mockingly and walked back to her friends' side.

"He's really as cold as others say. I suppose no one can sit next to him."

But just after she said that, she saw Vance's assistant take a girl to sit on that coveted seat.

Vance's quiet gaze, just like moonlight, landed gently on Tessa.

"Do you want this necklace?" Tessa placed a black velvet box on the table and pushed it to Vance.

"A small gift for you."

Michael was astonished.

She outbid Mr. King and now gave him this trophy! Did she want to humiliate him?

This must be unbearable for Mr. King!

"Madam, don't go too far. Mr. King didn't bid just because he didn't want it..."

Michael tried to speak for Vance, but suddenly, he stopped.

Because Vance had moved the box to himself with his fingers.

Michael took up the box and stepped back obediently.

Calm as he looked, he felt a rainstorm in his heart.

Thinking of Vance's unusual behavior and seeing his rare expression, Michael suddenly realized something.
