Chapter 4 Bi-colored Eyes

In a daze, Rosalie heard a voice.

"The patient fainted out of fatigue. It seems she hasn't had a good rest for long. The scald on her hand and the bruises on her back also make her feel pained. But she'll be fine after a rest."

This is the hospital?

She tried hard to open her eyes and saw the white ceiling.

"I see."

Why was it a man's voice?

When she struggled to sit up, she saw a familiar face.

Wasn't he the man on the plane?

His eyes were of different colors?! It seemed he had worn lenses to hide them on purpose.

"You're awake?"

The ordinary hospital gown looked somewhat graceful on him.

By the way, it was rare for a man to recover so fast from a heavy injury.

"I... Why am I here? And why are you..."

Rosalie's mind was stuffed with many questions. She merely remembered that she had fainted.

"Grandma took you here."

Gazing at her pale face, Abel felt a slight heartache.

She had looked so healthy and energetic on the flight. What had happened during these hours?

Hearing the word "grandma", she realized something.

"So you're the grandson of..."

"Abel Williams."

He interrupted her guess and told his name directly.

She nodded subconsciously.

"Well... It's the 21st century now, and I've just met you twice. Someone like you must have many admirers. Don't worry. I won't hold you back from your future. I'll explain to your grandmother, so you don't need to feel burdened."

But Abel looked into her eyes earnestly and gently, making her lower her voice.

"You saved me, right?"

Abel suddenly changed the subject, and that somehow confused her.

"Strictly speaking, I just fulfilled my duty as a healer."

Hearing her reply, he gave a soft smile.

The slight curve of his lips and his gentle eyebrows stunned her for a second.

"What should I do then? Morally, I should marry you to repay your kindness. Theoretically, we should also be a couple for we've been engaged since we were born."

There was a trace of bewitchment in his bi-colored eyes.

"We've just met... Please don't play such a joke on me."

Rosalie avoided his eyes where she was afraid to lose herself.

"Actually, it'll save me a lot of troubles with a woman by my side. More importantly, grandma likes you very much."

A glimmer of surprise flashed across his eyes, because he had never been rejected by any women before.

Awkward, he looked away, trying to hide something.

At the same time, there was an inexplicable flicker of loss in Rosalie's heart.

"If, I mean if... if I pretend to be your fiancée, can you... do me a favor?"

She said after a long while. She wouldn't let her father die for nothing!

But she alone wasn't a match for Penny at all.

Again, Abel looked at her whose bitten lip and resolute eyes touched him.

"What is it?"

Gazing at her smiling face, he showed greater gentleness in his eyes.

"Help me investigate a person."

The stubbornness in her eyes hit his heart.

Now that his grandmother could find the apartment that even Penny didn't know, it might be easy for the Williams to investigate Penny.

"Okay, but you must live in the Elegance Community before that."

Abel agreed right away without asking which person to investigate.

"Please accompany my grandmother. I'll ask my people to draw up a contract. Don't worry. I'll be fair with it."

He added.

"Okay!"

Rosalie wanted to ask why, but affected by his ready agreement, she gave up the question.

However, the next second, he grabbed her wrist.

"What are you doing?"

Rosalie asked cautiously as he unwrapped the gauze on her hand.

"Don't you think I, as your fiancé, have the basic right to know more about you? Like who did this?"

The back of her hand, which had been smooth and fair, was now ugly with spots of scalds.

"I hurt myself by accident."

Subconsciously, she concealed the truth.

"I don't hope that our first day of cooperation is unpleasant because of a lie."

Abel lowered his eyelids and applied the medicine on her hand carefully. Then, he wrapped her wound with clean gauze.

It should be admitted that his bandaging technique was very professional. Did he... usually get injured?

"My step-mother kicked over the brazier. The sparks were then splashed on my hand."

Looking at his serious face, she smiled without even realizing it.

When did she learn to hide the truth?

Was it when the truth she told was distorted by her step-mother and nobody believed her?

"The women of Williams's can't make themselves suffer. This is the bottom line."

Abel said calmly as he looked up into her eyes.

"This woman is so miraculous! Even our bad-tempered boss becomes so gentle in front of her?!"

John, who was eavesdropping outside the room, shook his head and said to Gavin thoughtfully.

"Nonsense. When has our little Abel been bad-tempered?"

Before getting a response from his companion, Gavin felt hurt on his head. He turned around and saw Old Mrs. Williams craning her neck to look inside with interest.

"But thankfully... our little Abel looks not bad and can be narrowly worthy of Rosalie."

Stroking his head, Gavin exchanged a look with John.

Which side was this old lady on?
