Chapter 5 May You Have a Baby Soon
At the Pear Blossom Garden Villa, as Ashley was about to leave the house, she heard the landline rang. She was a little surprised and walked over to get the call.
"Is Ashley there?" Leonard's grandfather made the call immediately when he returned to the Bryant Family's old mansion, and his tone of voice was affable. "How is the villa?"
"Grandpa Bryant?" Ashley was stunned for a second and then let out a smile. "It's gorgeous."
"Just call me Grandpa from now on. You are now my granddaughter-in-law." The Elder Master's tone was a bit excited. "I've told the butler to send you a nanny to take care of the housework and your living. If you need anything, call me at any time."
"A nanny?" Ashley widened her eyes open in shock. "Grandpa, that's not necessary. I can take care of myself."
"You only have to follow my arrangement." The older man's tone was irresistible. In fact, he wanted to arrange for someone to supervise the young couple's daily life to stay informed of what was going on.
Given no other option, Ashley had to nod in agreement. "Thank you, Grandpa."
"You're welcome, Ashley." The Elder Master was thrilled." It's a blessing for the entire Bryant Family that Leonard married you. Why don't you guys come back tomorrow evening for dinner?"
Ashley did not know how to refuse it and had to agree. "Okay."
"Let me talk to our granddaughter-in-law." Leonard's grandmother, sitting next to the Elder Master, could not help grabbing the phone.
The Older Master looked at his wife with his eyes full of affection and then handed her the phone.
"Ashley, right? This is Grandma." Knowing that Leonard got married, the Elder Lady felt so excited that she went faint. Over the years, Leonard's marriage worried her so much that even her hair turned white.
"Grandma, this is Ashley." Ashley greeted the older woman at the other end of the line with embarrassment.
"Leonard finally got married. I have nothing to worry about now." The Elder Lady was incoherent. "You're a savior for our family."
Ashley was stunned for a moment and then smiled awkwardly. "Grandma. The honor is all mine. Leonard is excellent. Lots of people like him. I feel lucky to marry him."
Ashley still could not believe that she slept with the idol she loved for four years and married him.
"Girl, it means that you're destined to become part of our family." The Elder Lady beamed with joy. "May you have a baby soon."
Ashley's face blushed all over, and her mind was full of the images of her not letting go of Leonard last night. Then, she replied with an embarrassed smile, "Grandma, I've just graduated from college. I think it's still too early for me to give birth to a child."
"Ashley, listen to me. As an experienced elder, I think you'd better deliver a baby at a young age so that your figure will return to normal easily. Also, Grandpa and Grandma will take care of the baby for you two, and you can do whatever you want to do by then." At the thought of her grandchild, the Elder Lady could not stop herself from smiling.
With the phone in her hand, Ashley maintained an embarrassed smile. She did not expect herself to get married right after graduation and did not want to have a baby so early.
"Ashley, come on!" The Elder Lady encouraged the young woman.
Staring at his excited wife, the Elder Master revealed a somewhat weak smile. "They've just got married. Don't push them too hard. Just let it be."
"You're right. Let it be." The Elder Lady nodded with a smile. "Ashley, you and Leonard come back early tomorrow evening. We'll prepare you guys with a full table of delicious dishes."
"Thanks, Grandma." Ashley had a butterfly in her stomach. After hanging up, she immediately threw herself into the sofa.
At the thought of going to the house of the Bryant Family for dinner together with Leonard and the man's standoffish face, her eyes flickered nervously in anticipation.
At this moment, Leonard was at the president's office of the Bryant Group Building's top floor. Sitting in the chair in a white shirt, he was handling emails on his laptop. Through the floor-to-ceiling window behind him, sunshine shone upon his body and covered him with a layer of golden brilliance.
As his cell phone vibrated upon the desk, Leonard took it over and saw that it was from the Bryant Family's old mansion. Then, he muted the call.
Several seconds later, Debbie Lewis, his assistant, knocked on the door and entered the room.
"President Bryant, your grandfather called to invite you to go back to the old mansion for dinner together with your wife." Debbie reported cautiously, "He said that if you don't go back tomorrow evening, you don't have to go back in the future."
Debbie had been Leonard's assistant for many years but never knew that Leonard was married or heard of his wife's existence. However, given her own status, she dared not ask for the details.
"I see." Leonard did not even lift his head, his slender, pretty fingers moving upon the keyboard.
Debbie was in a black dress with her long hair tied into a low-positioned ponytail. Her makeup was delicate, and her earrings were vintage. However, no matter how pretty she was, Leonard never spared an extra glance at her for even a second. She felt like she was transparent in front of the man and believed that he was gay like those rumors said.
She wondered who the so-called Mrs. Bryant in the Elder Master's mouth was.
"Anything else?" Leonard still did not lift his head, and his voice was devoid of warmth.
Debbie was stunned for a second, and the look in her eyes became panicked. "No, nothing else."
"You may leave then," Leonard instructed coldly.
Debbie knew she should not overthink, nor should she have any sense of superiority and other fantasies because she was President Bryant's assistant, so she nodded and left the office.
The office was quiet. When Leonard finished reading all the emails, it was dark outside the window. Thinking of his appointment with Victor this evening, he got up, picked up his jacket, and left the office.
When Ashley arrived at the Charm Bar, she was a little late. It was because Pear Blossom Garden Villa was located in an affluent area, and there was no bus stop or taxi nearby. She walked for more than half an hour before finding a bus stop sign.
The moment Ashley walked into the bar, she was shocked by the loud sound, and the dazzling light made her unable to open her eyes. She did not like this kind of place. But for the sake of the classmates' friendship, she decided to come.
The Charm Bar was quite famous in C City. People who visited this place were basically rich and powerful people as well as those stars and Internet celebrities.
"Ashley, here." Upon seeing Ashley, Nadia immediately stood up to welcome her.
Their seats were close to the dance floor. There were a dozen of them, and they were all college classmates. All the women were in skirts with shoulder-straps and heavy makeup except for Ashley, who was in a long-sleeved white dress without any makeup.
