Chapter 7 Eye Candy

Noah was astonished.

At first, he wondered why Jayden wanted to check with Karen's background. When he witnessed Lorna's attitude towards Karen, he immediately understood Jayden's suspicion.

Lorna was being too nice to Karen.

Lorna sent Karen gifts, called Karen honey, dyed her own hair Karen's favorite color, and attached herself to Karen all the time. What was more, she even asked Karen to decide on her role in her debut.

This kind of relationship had gone beyond the boundaries of a boss to an assistant. If it weren't for the fact that they were both females, Noah would have thought Karen was Lorna's crush. Even when facing Mr. Spencer, Lorna would not be so natural and relaxed.

Noah's heart trembled, then a cold sweat broke out as a ridiculous guess flashed across his mind.

Could the relationship between Lorna and Karen be...

Facing Noah's shocked eyes and Jayden's increasingly gloomy expression, Karen sighed inwardly and gathered the courage to walk towards Jayden.

When Jayden saw that Karen was really going to read the scripts on the desk, he suddenly sneered, pushed the files forward, and leaned back in the chair.

"Are you having a good time with your assistant?" Jayden asked his sister, "If you feel dissatisfied with her, tell Noah. There are quite a few nice candidates in the group of people he chose earlier."

Karen's hand that was flipping through the scripts suddenly paused, and her butterfly-like eyelashes trembled lightly. Then, she swiftly sorted out the files and turned back to Lorna.

It seemed that Jayden had a lousy impression on her. Alas, she did not do anything disgusting in front of him. Why the hell did he dislike her so much?

He genuinely did not remember her at all.

"Lorna, would you like to have a look?" Karen maintained a sweet smile, but there was a hint of unnoticeable depression in her clear eyes. Upon noticing that, Lorna's expression darkened instantly.

"There is no need." She threw the scripts upon the coffee table aside, looked at Jayden, and let out a sneer. "Karen, a deal is a deal. You can select any role you like for me. The Spencer Family has money. It's feasible even to hire a screenwriter to write a story in line with your ideas."

She then dragged Karen over behind her and said unceremoniously to Jayden, "Show my assistant some respect. If you dare to take her away from me, I will burn the Spencer Entertainment."

"Lorna." Karen held Lorna's shoulders and forced her to turn around.

Although she looked petite, she had the strength to crack even a sandalwood table with only one slap, not to mention the delicate Lorna.

Lorna gasped in pain and glared at Karen, but when she looked into the latter's crystal-clear eyes, she could not help but soften her voice. "I'm helping you. How come you cannot tell good from the bad?"

Karen raised the corners of her mouth and curved her eyes to reveal a smile, and her voice was as crystal-clear as her pupils. "Did you say that you're helping me? For what? Mr. Spencer isn't bullying me. Relax. Don't forget I am your assistant. It's my duty to protect you. No one is making things difficult for me."

Karen picked up one of the folders from the desk and handed it to Lorna. "I've skimmed through the scripts and found this role quite suitable for you. See if you like it or not."

Lorna instantly withdrew her hostility and took the documents over. After glancing at the script, she let out a smile as well. "It's quite suitable for me indeed. Then, I'll take this role."

She then beckoned to Noah. "Please contact the crew and check with them when I can join them."

"Well..." After seeing the role Karen had selected for Lorna, Noah was stunned for a second and then looked at Jayden with an embarrassed look in his eyes.

"What's the matter? Can't I take this role?" Lorna snorted defiantly.

Jayden took the script, read the brief introduction to that role, and then curled up his lips into a vague smile. "Of course, you can. But why do you have to choose to play a useless eye candy instead of the leading role?"

Jayden slammed the folder onto the desk, and his eyes fell upon Karen with a gloomy look inside. "Is there anything wrong with your brain?"
