Chapter 11 Show You If I'm Impotent or Not
Virginia was so nervous that her heartbeat nearly stopped as she looked at the man and woman in front of her who were obviously also getting married. Her arms around his neck were straining. She was holding him so tightly that it was hard for him to ignore her nervousness.
"Why are you so nervous? It's just a sham marriage."
The ridicule in his words irked her. She frowned and glared at him, but he laughed even harder, "Think of this wedding as practice. Practice makes perfect, so you won't be nervous about your next wedding."
"...Go to hell!"
She pinched him hard on the chest with her small hand. His expression changed and even his gaze became dangerous, "You're pinching in the wrong place, Virginia."
She blushed, realizing that she had pinched his nipple, so she weakly withdrew her hand.
It wasn't a long walk, but it felt like a long walk to her. But fortunately, there was a man here she knew. She buried her head in his chest, smelling his perfume and blocking out the probing gazes of others.
Kent paused in his steps and moved on as if nothing had happened.
He felt heavy in his chest, as if responsibility had been placed there.
A minute later, she was put down by the man. She stepped on the fluffy blanket and didn't feel any pain.
She couldn't help but peek behind her to see the couple. Before she saw it, her little head was wrenched back.
The priest came over, coughed softly, said his prayers, and took out the rings he'd already prepared.
"Do you want to marry this woman? Will you love, honor, comfort, and cherish her from this day forward, forsaking all others, keeping only unto her for as long as you both shall live?"
"I don't."
Virginia looked up sharply and her small red face turning incredibly pale for a moment.
Kent snapped his fingers and Mark, who was in the crowd, came over with two glasses of champagne and a smile on his face.
He picked up one of them, then looked at her and motioned for her to pick up the other one.
She didn't understand what he was doing, so she had to do what he wanted and took the other glass.
"Here." He hooked his arm around hers. He was going to have a glass of wine with her? She was very confused, but hooked his arm as well. They made intimate a gesture to drink a toast.
Some people in the crowd started clapping, but she couldn't be excited anymore.
Only the 'I don't' that she heard made her finally realize that this was just a show.
They stared at each other for a moment before Kent suddenly bent down and leaned in front of her, touching her cheek with his fingers, "I swear I'll never love you."
She felt her blood turn cold, and this man reminded her every moment - it was all a lie and she shouldn't think much about it.
How could this superior man fall in love with her who was as humble as a little sparrow?
She tilted her head back and gulped the champagne. She set down her empty glass and stared at him fervently. There was a tone of unconcealed pride in her voice, "I swear our friendship will last forever."
May we never be in love - a curse shared by two people at the gaily wedding.
The man laughed, and she found his laugh so annoying.
Somehow filled with courage, she stood on tiptoe, ignoring the man's surprise, grabbed his tie, and kissed him on the lips.
He put his big hands on her shoulders and pressed down hard.
She released him in pain and looked at him with a smile on her face, "Except the kiss that night, this is your first kiss, I guess."
Virginia was actually just saying that casually. She was very angry at the man's arrogance. But she was surprised to find the man's ears blushed and she froze.
Just before she could figure out what was going on, the wedding was over. The priest had already left, angry at their ridiculous action, and Kent took her by the wrist and walked off the stage as many people poured over to toast them.
Virginia was patient and drank two glasses of wine. When the third was handed to her, it was taken away from her before she could take it. After Kent had taken a few sips of his drink, those people grew bolder. They said flattering words and toasted more frequently. But she wasn't drinking, because it was all taken away from her by the man.
After half an hour, Kent finally ran out of patience, looking a little angry, and dragged her out of the crowd.
But before Kent could take a few steps he suddenly stumbled, scaring Virginia into holding on to him.
The weight of the man overwhelmed the petite girl and she managed to take a few steps forward, but she felt less weight on her shoulders suddenly.
What had happened?
She looked to one side and saw a splash of purple.
The woman in the slim, low-cut purple dress placed his other arm on her shoulder and turned to look at Virginia and smiled. She was pretty without makeup and her voice was as beautiful as a lark, "I'll show you to your room."
Both women had sweaty foreheads from exhaustion. Coming to the door of a guest room, the women opened it. They moved the slumbering lion to the bed then.
"Kent didn't tell us he would have a wedding today as well, so we didn't prepare your room. I hope you don't mind."
"It's okay." Standing in front of this tall, beautiful woman, Virginia was nervous and she waved her hands frantically.
The woman smiled and looked as gentle as a river in spring.
It may be Virginia's illusion. The woman looked at Kent asleep on the bed with a complicated gaze and something that people couldn't tell if it was love or hate was in her eyes.
"Kent doesn't really drink, so you'll supervise him more from now on. Even though he's thirty, you'll find out after spending time with him that he's actually quite childish and capricious..."
She suddenly stopped talking and smiled awkwardly, "I shouldn't have said that. As his wife, you should be aware of this. I'd better go. Have a good rest."
The woman left immediately, not even telling Virginia what her name was. In retrospect, Virginia could only vaguely remember her looking at her from far away in her wedding dress.
Beautiful and lonely.
She was so tired that she couldn't lift a finger. She buried both of their bodies under the blanket beside her.
Kent was too tall so his crossed legs were exposed outside the blanket, but no one cared about that.
The next morning, he woke up rubbing his Ajna.
The bed was a mess and he smelled like alcohol, making him feel disgusted.
He searched around the room and couldn't see Virginia.
He wasn't in a hurry and took a shower and then he changed clothes before going out to look for her.
The maids passing by took one look at him, rushed to greet him, and ran off covering their mouths.
These maids were all like that.
His temples throbbed, and he had a bad feeling about it.
"Stop!" Near the kitchen, Kent found the missing Virginia, who was walking in his slippers, and made a patter. As soon as she saw him, she tried to run away like a cat saw a rat.
He yelled at her and she subconsciously stood still.
Kent walked over to her and squeezed the back of her neck, "Tell me, did you do something while I was asleep?"
"I..."
She was about to explain when a teenager's voice suddenly came from behind her, "Virgee, did you just say that Kent hasn't had sex in all these years because he's impotent... Is that true..."
The teenager's voice stopped all of a sudden and he turned, bent over, and ran away.
Kent leaned down slowly. His slow voice reverberated around and into her heart, "Yeah? I've never had sex and I'm still impotent? It seems my Virginia has some misunderstanding about me, so should I show her if I'm impotent or not!"
"What!"
