Chapter 10 The Wedding and Another Bride
On the plane, Kent Lopez held a cigarette between his fingers, lit it, and put it in his mouth. He shot a glance at Virginia, who was cringing beside him and patting her chest. He curled his lips and exhaled a puff of smoke on seeing this.
"Where's your savagery when you burst into the private room and demanded that I marry you?"
He got a guilty and depressed stare from her just as he finished. He thought she was just a little girl, not intimidating.
Her reaction instead made him smile and the dimples on his cheeks were faintly visible.
She couldn't help but be amazed. Because the man in front of her looked like a male model in a magazine. That tough, manly face really made her fascinated.
In front of such a mature man, she seemed like a child who hadn't grown up yet. And she looked very immature in every aspect.
Virginia shot another glance at the man's chin, where some unshaven, blue stubble remained...
"Babe, what are you looking at?"
She was so enthralled that she didn't avoid the unpleasant smoke coming from her right side and making her cough hard several times.
His smug laughter then spread throughout the cabin, and the rest of the people on the plane looked at them in surprise.
It was common knowledge that he didn't usually laugh especially after that event happened, and he became more and more depressed.
The few people who were with him weren't having a good time these days either. They were cautious, and this was the first time he had laughed recently, and it was also the happiest one they had ever seen.
"Stop smoking, you're disrespectful! You're not the only one on the plane now, and it's rude to let people smoke second-hand smoke."
She purposely acted stern, bulging her cheeks and glaring at him.
Seeing the man biting the butt of his cigarette and not answering, she bent close to him and quickly lifted her hand to take the cigarette from the man's mouth away.
After that, she extinguished the cigarette and threw it away.
And then she looked at him smugly.
He stretched out his arm and laid it lightly on the back of her chair. He didn't touch her, but she shivered and began to feel extraordinarily uncomfortable.
"Babe," Kent got closer to her. His breath sprayed on her ear with the scent of smoke, "Do you know where the last person who dared to casually attack me is now?"
Virginia heard her heartbeats and she wasn't sure if the man could hear them.
So she put her hands on her chest, as if she was trying to hide something.
She wouldn't give in and grunted, "Are you going to say that man's been dead a long time? Sir, do you know that you'll be struck by lightning for telling lies?"
Puff.
One man laughed and Kent looked at him. So the man bowed hastily.
A few other men snuck up on her in a slight surprise, as if she had said something remarkable and she had no knowledge of it.
Kent slouched against the back of his chair, not looking angry. It took a few seconds before he spoke slowly, but not to Virginia.
"My Virgee is still a little girl, and smoking second-hand smoke will have a negative effect on her development. No one will be allowed to smoke in front of Virginia from now on, so put it out. Do you hear me?"
It was a small matter, and yet he was so solemn about it.
Virginia saw several people hastily extinguish their cigarettes, fearing the end of the world would come if they were too late.
She squinted her eyes, not sure whether to be happy or angry. It made her embarrassed to associate with anyone else.
Her anger brought her great courage. So she pinched his muscular arm with her small paws.
Half the curve of her nail was left on it, like a crescent moon.
Kent chuckled softly, but she wasn't sure what he was trying to say.
As the plane slowed down, Virginia looked out the window curiously.
The crowd below was as large as the "little ants", so it was obvious that many people had come to greet them.
What surprised her the most was that below the plane was a central island where they were to be married.
The semi-circular island was large and there was a dedicated tarmac.
The plane was going to land straight away and came to a smooth stop on the tarmac a few minutes later.
"Are we, are we just going to go out?"
As soon as she finished saying, he tugged at her. He hugged her tightly in his arms like taking a small child and walked out with her.
Virginia wasn't comfortable, because those six or seven maybe more-centimeter high heels made her feet hurt.
But she didn't dare push too hard, for fear of losing the diamonds on them.
The shoes weren't for human beings definitely.
Her feet hurt even more as she endured being dragged and hugged by him, following him as fast as she could.
The airplane door opened and there were many people outside, who all stretched out like gophers.
She lifted her foot out along with the man and stepped on the plane's stair plate.
She hissed in pain but bit her lip in a hurry.
Kent had the good listening capacity and looked down.
Virginia in his arms was blushing, but not from shyness, but from tolerating something. Sweat oozed from her full forehead and she stood unsteadily half leaning on him for total support.
He guessed immediately.
"Ah-"
Virginia was still considering the way to walk more easily when her petite body was suddenly taken by someone.
She subconsciously reached out and wrapped around the man's arm.
The man cupped her buttocks to support her with one hand and used the other to tug off the valuable high heels. She watched in dismay as he tossed the heels away like trash.
"Shoes..."
"Shut up."
He said as he rubbed her ass a few times so she shook her head and pursed her lips hastily. But she still glared at him, expressing her accusation against the lecherous man.
Kent took off her heels and contentedly put his arms around her so that she could stand with less effort.
He walked down slowly, and people waiting for them slowly swelled.
They gazed inquiringly at the young Virginia in his arms.
Virginia was so shy that she didn't know where to look, but could only look away.
Suddenly, she froze.
She saw not far away a woman in a wedding dress like her standing facing her on the elaborately decorated stage.
She couldn't see her face clearly, but she was still confused.
For a little while, they saw each other at the same time.
No one was in Kent's way, and everyone made way for him to walk towards the stage where the woman was standing.
She got closer and closer to the woman and could see her more and more clearly.
She opened her little mouth and closed it again, looking like she wanted to ask questions, "She..."
Why was there a woman here who was also wearing a wedding dress? Did this man want to marry two wives?
Virginia, shocked by her own thoughts, quickly shook her head.
At that time, another groom in a decent suit like Kent walked onto the stage.
