Chapter 10 Promise Her 100 Million
The Moon Bay was a traditional restaurant. After a century of development, the first and second floors were still open to the mass, but the third floor was open to the upper class. The minimum spending was staggering. From this floor up, the spending was also climbing.
Vivian got off on the highest floor of the catering section, and a waiter immediately came to welcome her.
"Miss, which room did you reserve?"
Vivian hesitated, "Publicity department of Durban, I'm not sure which one."
"Okay, please follow me."
With a smile, the waiter led Vivian to walk forward and stopped at a door, "This is the room, please."
"Thanks." Vivian thanked the waiter and knocked on the door.
"Come in."
A deep male voice came out, and Vivian's pretty eyebrows furrowed. Finding the voice somewhat familiar, she then pushed open the door and got in.
The spacious booth was luxuriously decorated, and only a small pearwood table was placed by the window. To her bewilderment, the man sitting there proudly with his arms stretching out was none other than Jonathan!
"You?" Vivian blinked her eyes, thinking it was her illusion.
His eyelids slightly drooping, Jonathan pointed at the seat opposite to his, "Sit."
"Why... you?" Dazed, Vivian walked up and stared at him for quite a while.
Jonathan leaned forward slightly and fixed his eye on her, "You forgot? You called me."
Vivian took a tumble. The voice over the phone... was from him?
"You've been fooling me?" Vivian jumped up in shock.
Undisturbed, Jonathan spread his hands, "As I said, you won't get away."
"Ugh." Vivian was pissed.
"You are a lofty president of a company and go through lengths to trick a commoner like me. Since you are so great, why waste your time on me? Mr. Luke, I tell you what. From the top of the Durban Mansion, you throw off money. Then, you'll buy the nights of countless men and women!"
This was clearly a trap. Vivian was not stupid and would not jump into it. Carrying her bag, she planned to go.
Out of anger, Jonathan turned ghastly pale. She was the first one who dared to scold him bluntly like this!
"Stop." His deep voice was innately domineering.
Stunned, Vivian halted her steps.
Jonathan got up, walked to Vivian, and sized her up.
Vivian was frightened by his gaze, "What are you looking at? Say what you have to say!"
"Why are you so stubborn?" His brows furrowing, he couldn't understand her, "Will you suffer if you follow me? I can help you climb up the social ladder in ten, even twenty years less. No, maybe the others couldn't reach your level of life across their lifetime. It's right at your hand."
"Humph!"
Vivian's face turned cold, and she took a disdainful glance at him.
"Is this your value? You're pathetic!"
Jonathan cast his eyes down and stroked that antique lighter with his right palm.
"Mr. Luke, ten or twenty years, that's my time, and I'll carve out my own path. What makes you think you can take away my time?" Vivian curled up her lips, her face innocent but her eyes confident.
"Don't waste your energy for nothing. I've never been in your hands and thus don't need to run away!"
As if in deep thought, Jonathan nodded, "Mm, your speech is high-sounding. Well... you don't want the ads now?"
He was indicating that if she didn't agree to be with him, the advertising contract renewal between SINO and Durban would be over. As the agent, she would not absolve herself from the blame. With a major customer like Durban gone, she might lose her job in SINO.
Vivian looked back at him and shook her head, "Mr. Luke, do you think anything weighs more than dignity?"
Following her words, she pulled open the door and got out without the slightest hesitation. Jonathan was given an adamant shoulder.
Standing there, Jonathan curled up his lips after a moment of daze, "Heh, this is getting more interesting."
After the unhappy meeting, Vivian was on tenterhooks and simply stopped contacting the publicity department of Durban. Since such a thing happened, she believed Jonathan would inform his staff to stop buying ads from SINO.
In the afternoon, while she was lying prone on her desk in dismay, she was summoned by the supervisor.
"Boss." Vivian stood there gingerly with her hands clasped.
"Vivian, good job. Although it's contract renewal, I didn't expect you to finish it in just two days." The supervisor beamed at her, "Come here, I think you should stay in the advertising department! You're a match!"
Vivian was confused, "Boss, what did you say?"
"Ha-ha." The supervisor laughed out, "I just received a call from Durban. The advertising contract will be renewed, and we'll get another two brands! Girl, you are promising!"
... Vivian was struck dumb and couldn't figure out the situation.
How did the contract renewal succeed, and a new business was developed? Could it be... Jonathan's doing? Could that man be so kind? But if it was not him, who else could it be?
When she got back to her cubicle, the phone on the desk rang.
Vivian snapped back to her senses and picked it up, "Hello."
"Mm, it's me."
A shiver went through Vivian, and she sat upright. A sweat broke out in her palms. It was Jonathan.
"Five brands, 20 million yuan for each, and the total are 100 million." Jonathan quoted a series of number nonchalantly.
"Jonathan!" Vivian's face was instantly burning with shame. She looked around, covered the speaker with her hand, and lowered her voice to berate, "What do you mean? I didn't ask you to do that!"
"I was just narrating." There was a tinge of delight in his voice, and he continued, "I'm... making arrangements."
"What?" Still dizzy with the 100 million, Vivian couldn't keep up with Jonathan's words, "What arrangements? What do you want?"
There was a tinge of confusion in his voice, "Didn't you demand it? Physical examination."
... Appalled, Vivian stood up from her chair and knocked over her coffee cup, "What did you say? You..."
"Just wait, I'll make you keep your words."
Beeps came over, and Vivian was already dumbfounded. He promised her 100 million and now agreed to her ridiculous examination... Was this man serious? But she couldn't afford to fool with him!
Standing there, the supervisor banged the door and shouted, "Everyone, meeting! Come to the main conference room!"
Muddleheaded, Vivian followed her colleagues to the conference room. Her mind was such a mess that she didn't pay attention to the supervisor's speech.
"Great!" The supervisor suddenly pounded the desk and roared her approval, "You should learn from her. Vivian is just an intern and so motivated! In this case, the task goes to Vivian."
The sudden call from the supervisor snapped her out of the daze, but she still didn't know what was going on.
A colleague next to her poked her arm and whispered, "Ah, why did you raise your hand? Newborn calves are not afraid of tigers!"
Vivian was shocked. What happened? Did she raise her hand? She got a headache and just rubbed her temple!
