Chapter 9 You Won't Get Away
SINO Web.
"Advertisements?"
Her mouth agape, Vivian blinked her big eyes and doubted her hearing.
In the opposite direction, Isabel Lindsay, the team leader, frowned and glared at her, "Why the noise? How would our site survive without advertisements?"
"But." Vivian shook her head blankly, "I'm from the news team, not advertising..."
Isabel interrupted her brusquely, "Tsk! You're an intern and so picky! During your internship, you should obey the superiors' arrangements. You work where you are needed. Don't you get it?"
"I..." Vivian was left speechless.
"This is final." Isabel waved at Vivian, "From tomorrow on, you'll be temporarily transferred to the advertising department. You'll come back when they tell you to."
"... Oh." Vivian bit her lower lip as she had no grounds to argue.
Without a choice, she had to register in the advertising department.
There wasn't any business recently in the department. As soon as Vivian registered, she was assigned a task.
"Vivian, right? Well, you follow up on this case!"
"Yes." With a bitter smile, Vivian took the paperwork from her supervisor. As soon as she opened it for a glance, her eyes almost popped out!
She abruptly raised her head and widened her eyes, "Boss, I'm new here, and you put me in charge of renewing Durban's ads contract?"
"You have a problem?" The supervisor frowned indifferently, "Take what's given to you."
"Not that..." Vivian was vexed, "I'm not picking, but I have never contacted advertisers. I'm worried if I can do it well."
The supervisor was out of patience, "Just because you've never done it, you are in charge of renewing a contract."
The supervisor pointed towards outside, "See those guys? They're responsible for business development and negotiations. Do you think you can handle their jobs?"
... Vivian froze there. Certainly, she didn't have the ability, but Durban? Wasn't it Jonathan's turf?
Deeply troubled, the supervisor got blisters around her mouth and waved at Vivian, "You can go now! Refer to former files for the task. Ask around if you can't understand anything. We've done Durban's ads for years. It's not difficult to get the renewal."
"Oh, okay."
With the paperwork, Vivian came out. Perplexed, she didn't know where to start!
She collected herself, consulted her colleague, and felt relieved. The reputation of the SINO Web was good, and it had maintained a partnership with Durban for years. Several fixed brands of Durban had been entrusted to them.
"It's fine. Play by the rules and communicate. It's gonna be fine."
"Thank you, senior."
Vivian thanked her colleague, heaved a sigh of relief, and started working.
She flipped through the address book and called the reception of Durban.
"Hello, this is the advertising department from SINO Web, could you help get me through your publicity department?"
"Okay, one moment please."
In the CEO's Office, Zack was talking with Jonathan when the phone of the internal line rang.
Zack reached out to pick it up but was stopped by Jonathan, "I'll get it."
Jonathan hadn't slept well for days. It was medicine and willpower that was supporting his body.
"Hello, the publicity department of Durban? This is Vivian from the SINO Web advertising department, regarding..."
A familiar soft yet clear voice came into his ear, and Jonathan couldn't help but sit upright. There was even a hint of a smile around his lips. Patiently he heard her out without interrupting. Even his fatigue seemed to be alleviated.
"Hello, are you with me?"
Jonathan nodded slightly, "Mm."
"Well, how about we talk in person?" Vivian didn't realize that the person on the other end was Jonathan.
Jonathan lifted his wristwatch for a glance, "Seven o'clock in the evening, which country's food would you like?"
"Eh?" Vivian was stunned, "What?"
"Eat and talk, not convenient?"
"Not really." Vivian denied hurriedly, "The country doesn't matter. Traditional will be fine."
Jonathan nodded, "Good, I'll see you at Moon Bay."
After hanging up the phone, Jonathan mused like a hunter waiting for his prey to jump into his trap...
At the same time, Vivian was still kept in the dark. How would she know that the reception mistakenly put her through the CEO's Office?
The evening lights were lit. Moon Bay food court was a time-honored brand in Durban.
"Wait, wait, wait!"
The elevator was about to close. Hurriedly waving her hand, Vivian rushed over. The passenger inside heard her and pressed the button to hold the door.
"Phew..." Before she could catch a breath, Vivian hurried expressed her gratitude, "Thank, thank you..."
No sooner had she stood still than she raised her head and saw Jonathan standing in front of her.
"Huh?" Vivian was amazed and then frowned. Why did he follow her everywhere?
This man was a curse. Quickly Vivian lifted her hand, trying to open the door and get out.
However, Jonathan swiftly approached and clasped her hand.
"Let go of me!" Vivian was like shocked by electricity, "Mr. Luke, Jonathan!"
Ignoring her protest, Jonathan pressed the floor number with his slender finger and sighed nonchalantly, "Wait till I reach my floor first."
Only Jonathan and Vivian were left in the closed elevator.
"Let go!" Without a choice, Vivian had to free herself, rubbing her wrist while complaining, "Too much strength, you hurt me!"
"Humph!" Jonathan snorted, and his tall body slightly bent over. There was a hint of tease in his slanted eyes, "Hurt? It hurt more than the night when you jumped on me?"
... In shock, Vivian widened her eyes, chewed over his words, and blushed. Pissed, she wanted to slap him, "Enough, know some shame!"
Her soft hand was easily grabbed by his palm.
Out of the corner of his eye, Jonathan glanced at the floor indicator, "Which floor are you going?"
"Don't bother!" Vivian didn't want to talk with him and rolled her eyes, "Mind your own business!"
Before she could finish, her hands were clasped backward... Taken by surprise, she desperately cringed, but he kept chasing until she was caught in a corner.
"What are you doing?" Despite her fluster, Vivian feigned composure, "Don't try violence! I'll rip off your neck! Where's the medical report? Have you got it? If you haven't, don't mention responsibility!"
Following a ding, the elevator stopped.
"You won't get away, so don't waste your energy!" Jonathan ridiculed, and his thin lips brushed past her ear. He let her go and turned away.
Vivian blushed and panted. Her mind went blank, and she had no idea what he meant... Why couldn't she get away?
