Chapter 17 The Scalding Accident
The next morning, Brenda arrived at the studio early for the filming of Star in the Kitchen.
There was another barely recognizable celebrity called Lucas Forrest, a good-looking and well-shaped actor, who would appear on the same episode of the program as Brenda.
The recording part started soon. Brenda and Lucas were placed in the same group. Due to their stunning appearances, the cameraman was quite willing to target the lens at their faces.
Following the program flow, Brenda picked the dish she and Lucas would finish on the show by drawing lots. Learning that they were assigned to make SquirrelFish, the man furrowed his brows tightly.
When the camera was not on them, Lucas complained in a low voice, "I hate fish. Touching it makes me sick. And the smell, ill!"
Well, it seems that Lucas was a civilian prince.
Brenda secretively rolled her eyes, saying, "I'll do it."
Brenda lowered her head to cut the fish into pieces and put them on a plate. At this moment, Lucas naturally picked the plate up and said to the camera, "SquirrelFish is delicious. I hadn't expected it to be so complicated to make. In fact, this is my first time to cook. Dear audience, please don't laugh at my clumsiness. My partner is a girl, and I definitely cannot let her do all the dangerous work."
When the camera was taken away from him, Lucas instantly put down the plate, and the smile upon his face disappeared as well. Anyway, it was not a live program.
Seeing that Brenda was staring at him, Lucas justified his behavior impatiently, "Why are you looking at me? If I don't say anything, all my part will be cut off."
However, just because of what Lucas had said, images of Brenda's cooking part would be useless to prevent giving the man away.
Brenda took a deep breath, ignored the man, and took a step back to pour oil into the pan.
Lucas hurried to take several steps back for fear that hot oil would splash over him seeing what was going on.
Brenda comforted herself that as long as she could make the dish well, her images would be kept by the editor. Then, she concentrated on frying the fish.
Unexpectedly, an accident happened at this moment.
While Brenda was busy dealing with the fish, Lucas also kept himself busy preparing the sauce. However, when he tried to get the cooking wine, he accidentally bumped Brenda's arm, which was holding the pan.
The pan tipped over.
There was boiling oil inside!
In a moment of desperation, Brenda intuitively jumped to one side.
As a result, the entire pan of hot oil drenched one of Lucas's legs.
"Ah!!!" The man, who failed to dodge screamed.
Lucas's voice was piercing, and Brenda instantly felt dizzy.
Her heart pounded violently, and her head went blank.
Something horrible had happened.
The whole crew rushed over to Brenda and Lucas and eventually took the two to the hospital.
Brenda got only a blister on her ankle. However, Lucas's entire leg was badly burned. His suit pants were stuck to the leg, and it was impossible to tear the fabric off. He was pushed into the operating room.
When Cathy and Eva arrived at the hospital, Lucas was still in the operating room.,
Starting at Brenda, who was distraught, Eva reproved harshly, "What else could you do but getting all of us into trouble? It will surely leave a massive scar upon Lucas. Do you know what does that means to a young actor?"
Brenda ignored the woman. It was an accident. Besides, it was Lucas himself who should be held accountable for it.
Different from Eva's bad temper, Cathy was good at making things difficult for the woman she disliked.
"This was from a personal mistake. Neither the show nor the studio will be responsible for Lucas's medical bills and lost wages, or any cosmetic costs in the future. Brenda, prepare yourself for all these."
"Isn't he assured?"
"Do you know how expensive it is to repair the burned skin? You cannot get it done without millions! What kind of insurance company could pay that much?"
"However, it was Lucas himself..."
"Enough, Brenda. Don't be in a hurry to pass the buck. Lucas's agent will be here soon. Just pray that you can settle this with money." Cathy snapped, "You've basically destroyed that young actor's career."
