Chapter 11 Let Him Wait!

Feeling exhausted did not mean Christine could sleep well. In fact, she had been suffering from insomnia for several days and was worried that she would lose sleep one more time this night.

Therefore, she happily accepted the soup prepared and brought by Mrs. Jones. "I'll have some white fungus and lotus seeds soup. Thank you, Mrs. Jones."

This night, Christine slept surprisingly tight.

As she woke up in the morning and was just about to go to the bathroom, her cell phone rang. It was from Lora.

With her eyes narrowed, Christine paused for two seconds. Then, she answered it, wondering what Lora might say to her.

"Morning, Christine. When will you come downstairs? Kevin has been waiting for you downstairs for a good while." Lora's coquettish and aggrieved voice came from the other end of the line.

Christine walked over to the window and saw Kevin standing downstairs with a folder in hand. Supposedly, he was here for the divorce.

Probably, after waiting for Christine for long, Kevin impatiently told his parents, who then asked Lora to call Christine.

Otherwise, Lora would not have spoken to Christine in such a disgusting tone.

Christine curled her lips, answering, "I've just got up. It might take me half an hour or so to wash up. Luckily, it's not too hot outside, so it's no big deal for him to wait out there."

After putting her phone away, Christine revealed a faint smile and turned to enter the bathroom.

Forty minutes later, Christine walked downstairs. She initially thought Sheldon had gone to work. However, he was actually sitting on the sofa in the living room with a financial magazine in hand.

"Morning. Did you sleep well last night?" Sheldon took the initiative to greet her.

"It was fine."

"It's better to get up early. If you don't get out of bed at eight o'clock from tomorrow, I'll awaken you. Having breakfast at a later time is not good for the baby."

Christine paused in her pace and instantly realized that what the man cared about was not her but the child in her belly. However, why did she care if he cared about her breakfast time?

Christine walked straight to the dining room without saying anything, intending to make herself something to eat. However, there was ready food, including milk and bread, porridge and pickles, waiting for her on the table.

Mrs. Jones greeted her with a smile. "We don't know your appetite. Therefore, Mr. Collins told us to prepare two kinds of breakfast for you to choose from."

Sheldon made the arrangement? Christine's heart suddenly skipped a beat.

"Mr. Jones, please thank Mr. Collins for me." With that, Christine sat down to start breakfast.

As she knew Kevin was still waiting outside, she did not mind eating more slowly than usual.

After spending another half an hour having the meal, Christine wiped her lips and then walked out of the dining room with a calm step.

Sheldon was still in the living room. Seeing the woman, he stood up, saying, "Someone is waiting for you. As you were sleeping and having breakfast, Mr. Wilson has told him to wait outside."

Had Mr. Wilson asked Kevin to wait outside? Clearly, it was Sheldon who had asked Mr. Wilson to keep the visitor out of the house.

"Mr. Wilson, who was that visitor again? Why don't you go see if he's still out there? Let him in if he is still outside," said Sheldon.

"Yes, sir."

Sheldon added, "Oh right, get him a pair of shoes and some clothes to change into before getting in the house."

Eventually, the door was opened for Kevin. He immediately walked up to ask if he could get inside. Mr. Wilson, the butler, said, "Mr. Lee. Please come in."

Kevin heaved a sigh of relief as he could finally see Christine.

In fact, when the butler told him earlier that Christine was still sleeping, he intended to go home and come back later. However, Sheldon asked him to wait outside and not go anywhere in case that Christine would wake up the next second.

And he then got kept waiting for an hour and a half!

Kevin directed his hatred upon Christine and swore that he would sooner or later let her taste the torment of waiting for so long as well!
