Chapter 7 The Demon

The interrogation room at the police station was cold, walled in on all sides, and offered no place to sleep.

Ronnie, who had been up all night, sat listlessly on the floor, hugging her legs, her pointed chin pressed against her knees, her eyes downcast, her long lashes trembling gently like butterfly wings.

She had been too impulsive the day before. She should have quietly recorded Leslie and Serena's voices, gotten evidence of their adultery, and then fronted them.

She was going to be locked in the police station for half a month. When she got out, Leslie and Serena must have arranged everything. It would be even more challenging for her to get hold of the situation.

How could she have been so stupid!

Ronnie buried her head in her arms. It had been a day, and no one from the Pearson Family had come to visit her.

At this moment, a luxurious vehicle pulled up quietly in front of the police station. In the surveillance room, Shannon sat in front of the screen and elegantly crossed his long legs, staring at Ronnie's petite figure on it.

He was in a black, wrinkle-free suit, and his polished shoes were shining. With the pale light of the screen reflected upon his cold, stern face, his features appeared even more clear-cut, deep, and unusually handsome.

His powerful vibe made the room, which was not spacious in the first place, even more cramped.

The others all stood straight as if in a military posture, holding their breath.

The head of the police station wiped his sweat cautiously, wondering why Shannon had shown up.

President Harris was a mysterious successful businessman in River City. He was so well connected and financially unpredictable that he had casually shocked the entire business field by spending tens of billions of dollars to acquire River City's biggest taxpayer, Supreme New Energy Group.

Just now, the police chief had received a call from the provincial government asking him to follow President Harris's instructions.

He initially wanted to release Ronnie immediately, but President Harris was in no hurry and asked them to follow the standard procedures.

After settling all the arrangements, the police chief asked carefully, "President Harris, the interview is about to begin. Is there anything else you'd like to ask besides the few questions you've mentioned earlier?"

Shannon waved his hand, saying, "Just get it started."

"Okay." The Chief hurried to order his subordinates through the intercom. "Let's begin."

Inside the interrogation room, Ronnie was sitting in a chair in front of a small, crude desk.

A male officer and a female were sitting across from her. There was a pen and paper on the desk.

In a grave tone of voice, the policeman said, "According to the law, we are now questioning you, and you will answer truthfully and not make false statements. You understand?"

Ronnie raised her brows, maintaining a cynical attitude.

These cops had easily let Leslie and Serena go while treating her as if she were some felon.

The male cop cleared his throat. "What's your name?"

"Audrey Hepburn."

The man's mouth twitched. "Pardon?"

"Audrey Hepburn," Ronnie repeated in a light voice.

The policewoman's mouth twitched involuntarily as well.

Feeling annoyed, the male officer said, "I'm asking for the name on your ID!"

"Don't you have my ID card? You can't read or what?"

The man was so angry that his face turned livid, his knuckles snapping.

The policewoman hurried to tug at his coat, signaling him to calm down. After all, the person behind the woman was someone they could not afford to offend.

After regaining his composure, the policeman continued, "Gender?"

Ronnie sat up straight and lifted her chest, gesturing for the man to tell by himself.

The policeman's facial muscles uncontrollably twitched as he cursed Ronnie inwardly.

Why could not the woman cooperate with the interrogation?
