Chapter 6 Being Caught
Serena curled up her lips proudly at the sight of the blood marks on Ronnie's arm.
However, before her smile could fully blossom, Ronnie slapped her hard in the face.
Serena covered her cheek and glared at Ronnie in disbelief. "How dare you hit me?"
Ronnie replied coldly, "So what?"
Serena was shaking with anger as if she was suffering a burning shame.
In the Pearson Family, Ronnie had always been the most unpopular and abusive of the bunch. Serena wondered since when had the bitch, who had never done anything to resist but endured, dared to ride roughshod over her?
Serena was so irritated by the contempt in Ronnie's eyes that she lost all sense of reason and rushed over to the latter.
Ronnie dodged Serena's slap as if she had anticipated it, and then grabbed the latter by the hair.
Serena cried out in pain, feeling humiliated. She turned and fought with Ronnie, forgetting that she had planned to leave.
Within moments, the police arrived. All three of them were taken back to the station.
However, after exchanging several words with the police chief and posting bond, Leslie and Serena were released on bail, and Ronnie witnessed the entire process.
Serena smiled triumphantly at Ronnie, who was locked in the interrogation room. "Be honest, repent, and try to get a lenient punishment. We're leaving. Bye."
"Wait a minute," Ronnie stood up from the chair and asked the cop in disbelief, "How can you let them go without even questioning them?"
The policeman looked at Ronnie with contempt. "Behave yourself. You've deliberately hurt someone, and you still think that you're taking the moral high ground? If it weren't for President Payne putting in a few good words for you, do you think what awaits you? Would it be as simple as fifteen days of administrative detention?"
What? Fifteen days of detention? Ronnie took a deep breath, so angry that her internal organs hurt.
Leslie walked up to her and reached out to help her tuck the shredded hair hanging her forehead back to her ear, saying in a seemingly gentle voice, "Ronnie, I want you to reflect on yourself. You're my future wife. I want you to understand and support me instead of being unreasonable, you hear?"
Unreasonable? What the fuck?
Ronnie knocked off the man's hand, her eyes filled with disgust.
Where did he get the confidence that she would ever forgive him and become his wife?
Leslie saw that Ronnie was stubborn and, not wanting to waste any more time, turned around and left with Serena.
...
At this moment, Shannon was talking to Brian Ink about a new project in the President's Office of the Harris Group. The room was decorated in a modern black-and-white style, understated yet luxurious, with an exclusive coolness and dignity.
Suddenly, Shannon's assistant knocked on the door.
"Come in."
"President Harris, we've found that lady. And all her background information is here."
With interest, Brian said, "Let me see what kind of beauty can make an exception for our abstinent President Harris? She even dared to give you only a dollar for the services. Haha!"
Shannon shot a cold glance at him.
Brian shut up immediately.
Shannon's vibe made his assistant weak in the knees, and he hurried to add, "The lady is now locked up in the police station for fighting."
Brian spewed out the mouthful of tea he had just taken. Fighting? Was that woman that tough? It seemed President Harris had a unique taste of women.
Shannon once again gave Brian a cold glance, picked up his jacket, and moved his long legs towards the door. "I'm going to check on it."
"I'll join you." Brian got up and followed.
