Chapter 5
Hana
I entered the hotel and went to the lobby.
"Hey, everyone," I shook hands to the publishing company owner and the manager and someone I don't know, while I was giving a light smile to all of them.
"Hey, miss Hana, it's my pleasure to meet you, miss Hana," the unknown person said to me.
"Thank you, Mr—Sorry sir, I don't know your name or who you are," I said to the unknown person.
"Oh yes, Miss Hana, we will tell you everything and who he is after you have a seat. "The owner of the publishing company said to me.
I felt uncomfortable with his words.
I smiled and shook my head.
"Okay, everyone, please have a seat," the manager said to us. I sat on my chair and the manager to my right side and the owner on my left side and the unknown person facing me.
"So, miss Hana, we read your last novel draft, it's so perfect, and we are interested and going to publish it as we have our annual contact. But actually, we are here for something different." They drifted their eyes to each other.
I was staring at the owner after his words. "Yes, sorry, sir, but I don't understand why you traveled all this way to offer me something different? Why didn't you call me and offer me everything on a phone call, sir?"
All of them turned their heads to each other, and their expressions changed. Even the owner looked to the manager to talk instead of him. He coughed, "Oh miss Hana, this issue can't be finished or discussion on the phone, actually miss Hana, if you agreed we would stay here till you finish the deal." The manager said to me.
I was paying attention to him. "What? What issue? Staying here? What are you talking about? You guys are scaring me to death. Please, could anyone tell me what's going on here?" I asked them worriedly.
I was rolling my eyes, and my body and my hand were so cold, their words worried me a little bit.
I mean, what the hell? I'm a writer. What issue did they keep talking about?
"Miss Hana," the manager started talking to me. "First we want to publish your last novel but not by using your name,"
I blinked shockingly, "What? What do you mean? My pen name? But I'm already using a pen name."
He shook his head, "No miss, Hana. We want to offer you more money and write another author's name."
I cut him off. "What the hell are you talking about, and why would anyone do something like this?"
"Miss Hana, I'm the author," the unknown man spoke.
While I was looking, he looked outraged. "And who are you?" I asked him.
He said proudly, "I'm mango lean, the famous author and writer and a journalist miss Hana."
"And why do you need to buy my novel if you are a famous writer? Don't you have a brain to use or imagination to write your own?" I yelled to the author, mango lean.
I was going to stand up when the author stopped me, "please miss Hana; just listen to me first."
I sit again and put my left leg on my right leg and cross my arms around my chest. Giving him a disgusting look. "Okay, explain to me, Mr." I huffed. Seriously I wanted to slap his fucking face. He wants to steal my work! Fuck them! I didn't know even why I was still there yet.
He started talking with me while I ignored to look at him, turning my head away from him. "Okay, miss Hana, we need you to write a new script for the novel. We will make it a movie. A huge production company wants you to write the script, and they offered a huge number of 6 zeros to pay you, and they read your last novel draft by coincidence in our office and chose it too. But actually, they need Mango Lean-to put his name on this script and novel because they need a famous name for movie promotion, that's it." The owner said to me.
"Okay, how much will you pay me for this? "I asked him.
"One-million-dollar miss Hana," he replied to me.
"No, sir. Five million dollars or make your famous writer do it for you." I informed them.
"Miss Hana, please just listen." the manager told me something while I cut him off.
"This meeting is over, I don't want to hear any more words," I said firmly. I stood up, walking when the owner started to shout and threaten me. "Hana, if you didn't accept this offer, I will force all the other publishing companies to reject any new writing works from you."
I turned my head to him. "What the hell are you talking about? How do you dare to talk to me in this fucking way? Do you think you could threaten me in my country?"
Sam, the manager of the hotel, came towards me running when he heard me shouting.
"Miss Hana, are you okay?" Sam asked me.
"Yes, Sam, thank you."
The owner of the publishing company started to yell at me. "Okay, Hana, you think that you are protected because you are in your country now?" The owner laughed hysterically, making fun of me and looking at me as if I was a bug.
Suddenly, the men in black suits in this hotel's security came to face the owner and close his path, and the manager and the author.
After Sam pointed by his hand to them to come over here.
And other strange men in black suits came too.
"Okay, Hana, let's see how you protect yourself and how you will write once again or publish anything. I will destroy you, and your career is ended. I will show you what I can do. "The owner of the publishing company threatens me.
And he took up his cell phone, and he was calling someone, for sure this one at least will be a counselor or ambassador of his country.
But before saying hello on his call, Prince Carlos showed up, catching the publishing company phone owner.
The owner asked the Prince. "and who are you? Give me my phone." He commanded the Prince.
The Prince put his hand on his mouth, silencing him and taking the phone call.
The one on the other phone call was hearing everything. I guess because he didn't close the call and said, "what's happening with you? Tell me about your place, and I will come to you with my guards."
"Hey, I'm Prince Carlos," the Prince said to the man on the phone.
"Who the hell are you?" Prince Carlos asked the man on the other side of the phone call.
The Prince turned the call on loudspeaker.
We all were there standing in our places and could hear the words of the man. The man on the phone call cleared his throat. "Oh, Mr Prince, I'm, um—"
He couldn't talk.
I laughed loudly, "oh, I guess the bird just ate his tongue or something." I said those words while looking and crossing my arms to the owner of the publishing company.
The owner of the publishing company was scared to death, and he was looking at the floor. I guess he was thinking about what he should do in this situation now?!
The Prince hangs up the phone of the publishing company's owner and throws it away, hitting the floor, crashing.
Prince Carlos started talking to me. "What happened, Hana? Who bothered you?"
"Nothing Carlos, I mean nothing, Mr Prince," I said, feeling ashamed of how I spoke to him back then.
He shocked me, "No, Hana, you can call me Carlos without a Prince, only you and just you."
I smiled.
I was happy from deep inside. He protected me.
"Okay, Hana, now calm down, and please tell me what happened?" Prince Carlos asked me again.
I explained, "This man was threatening me that he will destroy my career." I was telling Carlos.
While he cut off. "What career Hana? Are you working? Do you have a job?" Prince Carlos was asking me; he was shocked. I guess he didn't think such a thing of me.
"What career Hana?" He repeated his question to me.
I was going to answer, but the author and the manager cut off and started to tell him. "Mr Prince, she is an international author; she is one of the best writers, Mr Prince." They replied.
"Then, why did this argument happen?" Prince Carlos asked them.
The manager and the author choose to protect themselves, and they figured out that the owner can't even defend himself so he couldn't defend them either.
Then they started to explain to Mr. Prince, "it's just a misunderstanding. You know that some of the famous writers don't write all the scripts and novels and they sometimes just put their famous names on other writings and pay more money for the real writer, that's it". They explained to Carlos.
"Yes, a ghostwriter." The Prince said.
The author continued his words. "The owner just offered a good deal to Miss Hana, to buy her novel and put my name on it, and actually, he offered a very generous number to Mr Prince."
The Prince cut off his words, "and how much you offered her? Mr Prince asked the owner of the publishing company.
The owner cleared his throat, "Mr. Prince, I offered her one million dollars."
"Okay, Hana, why didn't you accept the offer, I want to know your reason, Hana." The Prince turned his head to me and asked me while he was looking deeply into my eyes.
I was shocked. "What? What are you talking about? What do you know about me? I don't care about money. I care about my career. No, I do care about money. I need money. But why do I have to give him my work? I bet that the production company will pay him at least 10 million dollars. Why not me?"
"What are you saying, Hana?" The Prince cut me off.
"I'm saying that I deserve this money. I mean I'm the one who writes more than 20 hours daily for every day, I'm the one who works hard here. You don't even know me, Mr Prince, you think I'm spoiled and superficial, I told you before that you know nothing about me. And how could you know how I feel and you don't even make any effort in your life to earn money. You have servants and guards and money and your own country." I was telling Prince Carlos before he cut me off.
He said, annoyed, "Actually, Hana, I do work 24 hours daily. I have many companies in the world, which is not for me; I sacrifice my life to help my people. Hana, the guards and security and government, and my people are my responsibility. I'm the one who is responsible for millions of people. So I do have work. Thank you, Hana," The Prince said to me.
I blushed, and I felt like my tongue disappeared. I was just staring at him, opening my mouth like a dump.
I moved to sit on a chair next to me, looking down at the floor, and my tears started flowing.
He noticed that I was crying. He came close to me and sat on his knees.
"Now, Hana, why are you crying?" Mr Prince asked me.
Then I found that I cannot control myself, and I cried loudly, putting my hands on my face, covering my face.
I screamed those words. "I'm sorry, but I'm so depressed and desperate, I face the world on my own. Since my dad became sick and everyone uses me, I can't handle this awful world anymore. I want to make more money for my parents, but not lose my dignity. "I almost screamed in frustration at the Prince "please all leave me alone."
Carlos came closer to me and hugged me firmly, putting his hand around my neck.
Pulling me to his chest, I didn't notice that I pressed my head to his chest feeling comfortable, somehow I was so attracted to him as if his chest was my home, I felt safe and protected.
I told everyone to go away now, "hey." Prince Carlos pointed to the publishing company owner to stay.
"Okay, Mr Prince." The owner bowed his head.
"You take this order from me, her novel will be published, and you will put her name, or I'm going to destroy you and put you to jail for the rest of your life. and pay her what she asked for. "He ordered the owner while still hugging me tightly and pressing my breast to his masculine chest.
"Okay, Mr Prince, I will do everything, thank you and please forgive me." The owner of the publishing company was asking Prince Carlos for his forgiveness.
"No, you have to ask Hana to forgive you," Prince commanded the owner,
"Sure, Mr Prince," he obeyed without thinking twice.
"Okay, Hana." The owner was going to continue while the Prince cut off.
And he stood up and pulled the owner from his suit and looked at his eyes angrily. "What did you say? Hana?" Mr Prince asked the owner.
The Prince clenched his teeth fuming in anger, "How dare you to talk to her by her name? Don't you know who she is till now?" He asked the owner with an angry voice.
The owner was shaking; he was so confused. I was just sitting on my chair, looking at them.
Then the Prince said with a raised eyebrow, "You have to call her to miss Hana because she is my fiancé."
The owner trembled and said in a stuttering tone, "Oh, Mr Prince, I'm so sorry."
I cleared my throat. What did he say just now? Am I his fiancé? How could he say something like this? I was whispering in my mind and staring in my place in this strange situation and widening my eyes.
The Prince pushed the owner a bit down. "Now continue, you apologize for the speech to miss Hana, and don't forget that she will be my wife soon." The Prince ordered the owner of the publishing company.
The owner was shaking, I wanted to laugh, but I suppressed it "Miss Hana, please accept my apology, I'm sorry, and I promise you to do my best for your novel, I'm sorry again miss Hana." The owner said to me.
"Now, dismiss," Prince Carlos ordered the owner.
The owner was running, not walking; I can hear his steps, his legs were shaking.
Carlos was giving me his back. I just stood up and came close to him. "Why did you say that I'm your fiancé, Mr Prince?" I asked him.
He replied to me without turning his back. "Because you are my fiancé Hana and don't repeat Prince or Mr ever. Soon you will be my wife." Carlos said to me.
"What? What are you talking about, Carlos? This is not a joke." I said, breathlessly confused.
He turned his body to face me and hugged me tightly, bending his arm around my waist and putting his head down to my neck. "Hana, you are mine. I will protect you till the last breath of mine. I will marry you. I promise you very soon."
I pushed him away from me.
"I'm not yours. I don't love you. We are not even in a relationship, and you don't know anything about me.you are just making all this because I refused to spend this last night with you." I accused him and said to Carlos with a nervous voice. But, I was scared to fall in love with him. I didn't have any time for love. No one stood by my side when I needed help. And since then, I decided to depend on only myself.
And I turned my body to walk away from him.
He pulled my arm gently, "no, Hana, you are wrong, I thought that my heart was dead, but after meeting you, I realized that my heart just was waiting for you. All these romance movies and novels that were talking and describing love at first sight, I thought this would never happen to me. But that's what happened when I met you. I can feel how my heart beats getting higher—all I want now to be with you. I don't know you well. But I know that you are the one. It's not a game Hana. I don't have much time to play around. This is what I feel towards you, and I'm sure you feel the same. Because how could I feel something strongly like this magical feeling, and you don't feel the same to me?" Carlos said to me, looking deeply into my eyes.
I felt lost between his eyes as if he conquered my soul if I was born.
But I just ran away through the hotel doors exiting this place.
Oh my god, this is a strange feeling, I thought I imagined this feeling. Still, no, it's true, he feels the same sense, I just wanted to lay between his warm arms forever. I just wanted to tell him that I feel the same way even after his first situation with me when he asked me to spend a one-night stand with me.
I wanted to tell him that all my life, I was just having too many boyfriends hoping that I would fall in love with one of them, but no, as the same as Carlos, I was just waiting for something to happen. I didn't expect that I would find my love like this. And it's love at first sight. Something I didn't even know what it could be?
I didn't even write about love from first sight in my novels. Maybe that was because I didn't feel this feeling before.
This is the one love magic that comes one time in the entire life.
Do I have to accept this gift from God? Or I must ignore it? I was whispering in my mind.
