I was getting ready that day for my special night ever, yes! My engagement party. And after being in love for four years with Dave, my father finally approved to be engaged to him.

Yes, my father was actually a pastor, and he was very strict about almost everything in my life. He didn’t interfere much because he raised me well, and he put his trust in me.

Luckily Dave was a good person as well; he didn’t try to make a move or ask me for my virginity before marriage because he really loved me so much.

We have been in love since we have entered college, yes, we were at the same age. And since then we were having the most adorable days together. He asked me to marry him after graduation, and yes— I said yes.

But my father put his strict conditions, he asked me to graduate in first ranks to approve the marriage. But even so, I can assure you that my father didn’t like Dave. I didn’t know why.

But finally, we graduated a week ago, and we were busy preparing for our party—. we invited all our best friends and classmates from college as well.

I was putting my last touches of makeup and checking myself in my golden-white short dress in the full body mirror— When Dave called, I instantly picked up “yes, sweetheart.”

“I missed you so much baby, please don’t be late—” he said to me.

I gasped “What? You are not going to pick me up from my parent's house?” I was shocked because he said he will come and drive me to the ballroom!

“Sorry baby, I need to go somehow. Don’t be mad at me please.please” he said cheesily and I chuckled.

“it’s okay, see you at 10 then. Better not to be late or I will.” I was warning him.

He raced my words “I swear I won’t— I was waiting for that day!”

I chuckled happily, feeling my heart flutter in my chest “okay, see you then.”

I hung up the call and sat on the edge of my bed. I was happy and excited but at the same time something deep inside my heart told me to not go!

Weird! Ha! Maybe! But I was so close to God! Seriously! I was so religious and my instinct didn’t ever deceive me.

I came back to my senses when I heard knocking on my door, I raised my head up to see my father stepping closer and pulling me into a huge hug “my baby grew up fast.” he laughed.

I nodded “yes, I guess so—.”

He cupped my face in his hands and asked me in concern “what’s wrong? You look worried!”

I guess as my father, he felt it! Yes, my eyes were unstable and my heart was beating too fast; my hand was sweating. I wasn’t okay at all! If anyone didn't know that I have been in love with Dave for years, he would assume that my father forced me into this marriage.

I trembled and tried to fake a smile, but I couldn’t lie to my father. That's why I sighed deeply and said in a broken tone, “I don’t know, father, I think— I don’t— I don’t know why I feel that I’m making a mistake.”

And suddenly he raised his brows and suggested “then don’t go! Please, I feel the same since I have met Dave! And my instinct didn’t change even a bit. Just break up with him. It's never late.”

I blinked and pouted my lips “father! Please don’t say that at my engagement party. You’ve agreed already. And I do love him! And he loves me more than I do.”

My father shook his head and kissed my forehead “please don’t be sad. I didn’t mean it that way. I just don’t know why I feel something fishy about dave. Anyway— let’s go and by the way, you look very gorgeous.” my father joked and winked at me.

I nodded and in just a second, we heard my mom shouting “okay! Let’s go now!”

She’s that kind of person who is always excited about even tiny things and still shouting loudly—.. but we do love her a lot.

But before we could get into my father's car, I received a text message on my cell phone. I grabbed my phone to read and it was from an unknown number— I checked it— I thought Dave was telling me he is waiting for me or he loves me so much or something.

But instead, I found out this [ dave is not in love with you. He has been cheating on you with Elizabeth— your best friend all the time— and he will never get married to you because he loves her. He will just get engaged to you to make her jealous, then he will throw you in the trash.]

What the fuck! This can't be true! This is from someone who envies us for sure and wants to ruin my mood on my special day for sure. Yes! Elizabeth can’t do this to me.! No way!
