Chapter 5 Never Turn Your Back at Greenbacks

As soon as Elena walked out of the building, she looked at Jackson fiercely as a tiger did. It seemed there was a fire in her eyes.

Although her resentment was strong, Jackson was still not swayed, with a face of justice.

Elena turned her head and left. Jackson bitched out at once.

"Elena, it was my fault. I was wrong. Tell me, what are the conditions?"

"Don't you feel ashamed?"

A grown man had sold her for money without even putting up a fight. Isn't this a traitor?

"Elena, it's nearly ten million a year. This is great moneybags, super great moneybags. We can't afford to offend it. We have to serve it."

Jackson was brazen-faced. "You see, I have the old and young at home..."

"You're not married. Where did you get the young?" Elena was really angry.

"Now I do not have the young, but it doesn't mean it won't be there later. There are also monthly rent, utilities, staff salaries in the firm... All of this needs a large amount of money."

Jackson wore a bitter face. "Well then, the pork has gone up so much lately. How about a thousand dollars salary increase for you?"

Elena sneered.

"Two thousand?" Jackson said again.

Elena continued to sneer.

Jackson's teeth were clenched. "Three thousand. No more. You can just take a rope and strangle me to death if you ask more."

Elena's expression began to relax, and her inner persistence gradually relaxed as well.

One might be bought if the price was high enough.

For a long time, she said, "Deal!" Three thousand dollars was enough for her cousin David Stewart to go to graduate school and pursue a doctor's degree.

"That's right. Don't turn your back at greenbacks. This world..."

"Jackson."

Elena interrupted him. "There's something I don't quite understand."

"Go ahead."

"Shouldn't the Young Master No.2 be surnamed Young? Why is he surnamed Green?" Elena asked.

"You are kind of asking the right person about that."

Jackson's face was overflown with enthusiasm. "Young Master No. 2 was abducted by a human trader when he was a child and was only found back by his family as an adult. Mr. Green's elder brother has been a good provider for him. Mr. Green has said that he is determined not to change his surname in honor of his elder brother. He's really a compassionate man with affection and faith."

"Compassionate?" Elena sneered repeatedly.

Bullshit!

...

After separating from Jackson, Elena stopped a taxi and told the driver the address. The driver turned his head and looked at her. "Miss, what are you doing over there? ?"

"I'm looking for someone."

"Do you have an address?"

"Yes!"

"Go early and return early. That place is especially populated by outsiders. You're not safe as a girl."

"Sir, it's not that bad in broad daylight."

Elena then looked down at the document, missing the strange look on the driver's face who was about to speak but saying nothing.

Reaching her destination, Elena paid and got out of the car. She realized that she was a bit overly optimistic.

The road conditions in this area were intricate and complicated, with wide roads and narrow roads interlocking.

The inhabitants of this area had a tendency to build illegally. The man-made alleys were everywhere. Even if you had an address, it would take you much time to find it.

Because it was early summer, bare-chested men and women in pajamas were everywhere.

A few young men with green dragon and white tiger tattoos squatted on the side of the road. Some played with daggers, and some played with lighters. All of them looked her up and down as she was an intruder.

There was a musty smell in the air. Two big yellow dogs leaped out of nowhere.

Elena shuddered for no reason. Only now did she understand what the driver meant by those words.

This was a village within a city, with a mixture of good people and bad people. The danger was everywhere. She swallowed hard and bent down to pick up a stone to defend herself.

She managed to find No.66.

It was two bungalows. The doorway was dark. There was stagnant water in the corner of the wall and an overpowering stench that had been there for ages.
