Chapter 9 She Couldn't Avoid It
Linda sized them up. According to her taste, she liked the royal blue suit.
After all, the dark grey was too old-fashioned while the milk white was too plain. Only royal blue looked noble and lively. It was perfect for an informal high-end occasion like the President's welcome dinner.
"Miss August, your boss won't be back any time soon and told me to deliver a message. Linda will be in charge of Mr. President's style for the welcome dinner. Since she's new here, your necessary help to familiarize her with the business is appreciated." Nancy concluded the arrangement.
After Angela heard that, the smile on her face became more pretentious, and she saw Nancy off.
When she came back to the office, her smile had faded away.
Stretching out her fingers painted with red nail polish, she kept her chin high and pointed at the suits, "Linda, do as Ms. Canning has told. Bring those suits to Mr. President and consult him for his preference."
"But..."
Ruby wanted to say something but held it back grudgingly under Angela's glare.
After just minutes of interactions, Linda already saw through Angela's nature. She was a capricious and scheming woman. It was probably a plot that she asked her to send the suits.
On second thought, this was her duty, so she could not reject it.
Besides, she would work here for a year and could not avoid it. Rather, she should face the difficulty and adapt herself to circumstances.
She agreed and pushed the hanger away.
Ruby looked worried about the situation.
Angela just snorted and sat down smugly, "Some women are overrating themselves! Instead of raising kids at home, they learn from others to become designers!"
...
At the same time.
The atmosphere in the President's Office was a bit tense.
Vice President Will Johnson tilted his leg arrogantly, "Do as I said! Phil Smith is old and not suitable for a position like the Finance Minister. My cousin has been working diligently in the Ministry of Finance for over a decade and is skilled in his business, so he is the best candidate!"
Following his words, he winked at the former president, Sam Reed, "Don't you think so, teacher?"
The register of the new cabinet was almost finalized. Now only the position of Finance Minister who controlled the lifeblood of the USA's economy was still vacant.
Jason wanted to nominate Phil because the man was not only experienced but also understood international finance.
On top of that, Phil was a close friend of Jason's grandmother. Because of this tie, Jason certainly trusted him more.
Just before the appointment, Will intervened and strongly recommended his cousin who had been working in the Ministry of Finance for over a decade.
With over ten years' experience, his cousin was only promoted once, which showed his common abilities.
In silence, Jason pursed his lips and showed no expression on his handsome face. The cold and awful air about him permeated the room.
"Will, I'm no longer the boss of 99 D.C. Street. This matter should be decided by Mr. President."
Former President Sam waved his hand timely.
Sam understood Jason's silence well. He didn't fear Will but considered Sam's reputation as the former president.
Will was his student after all, and relied on his connections to step into the political world.
"Teacher!" Will stood up unhappily.
Instead of looking at him, Sam just turned to Jason, "Jason, you don't need to worry about me! From now on, you make the call of the USA's matters, and I have no problem with that!"
Following his words, he bypassed Will, pushed open the door, and walked away.
Will looked sullen.
Without Sam's support, he immediately lost the upper hand and left dejectedly after some chitchat.
After the turbulence, the candidate for the Finance Minister was finally determined, and Jason couldn't help pinching his third eye area.
Just then, the phone in the office rang.
"Trying suits? All right, send them over." He nodded.
