Chapter 2 You're too much in charge.

Shelby didn't expect Jackson to actually see herself and come over.

Looking at his furrowed sword brows, she said uneasily and cautiously, "I'm fine, I just accidentally bumped into it."

Jackson looked at her pale face, which had just sunk.

Zoey on the other side was calling out to him, " President Johnson, it's almost time."

Shelby noticed Jackson's embarrassment in a flash, and bitterness welled up in her throat, revealing her usual meek smile: "I am fi......"

Before the words were finished, she was picked up by Jackson who did not say a word.

Jonathan saw the unusual relationship between Shelby and this man and guessed that the one she had always secretly loved should be him.

With a frown, he stopped in front of Jackson: "She needs to have a checkup."

Jackson's gaze was harsh: "Get out of the way."

Jonathan didn't take a step back.

Jackson's handsome face sank, and in a flash, it was like falling into an ice cellar.

Patients coming and going, as well as health care workers, were afraid to approach.

He saw the woman in his arms looking uneasily towards Jonathan as if she was asking for help. So he wrapped his arms around her waist with a violent force.

Shelby ate the pain and barely revealed a wisp of smile, "Doctor Smith, I'm fine, really."

Jackson coldly held Shelby and left as Jonathan staggered away.

........

Private hospital, Specialist clinic.

Shelby's leg didn't bleed, but the bruise was a bit serious.

The bruise on the snow-white calf was particularly eye-catching.

At her insistence, no CT was done, just a cream was prescribed.

Upon heading out of the hospital, Jackson received a phone call, and when he hung up, his brows furrowed for a few seconds, looking at Shelby and seemed to have something to say.

Shelby thought about the female voice that she had accidentally heard just now, it must be Zoey.

She lowered her eyes and hid all her bitterness.

"President Johnson, you can go ahead and fix your business, I'll just take a cab by myself."

Jackson looked at her with such a generous and unconcerned look, a tinge of unspecified annoyance gathered between his eyebrows and he turned around to leave.

"Wait a minute."

Shelby subconsciously shouted to stop him, her palms were sweaty: "You...Are you coming back tonight?"

After saying that, she lowered her head, her heart beating faster in bursts.

Jackson's cold voice drifted over far: "You are too much in charge."

The sound of footsteps gradually went away: "Shelby, figure out your place."

"Don't do anything superfluous."

Superfluous?

Shelby's heart ached and she couldn't control her tears from dropping heavily onto the ground.

Seven years.

She had loved him for seven years.

She never dared let him know in order to stay by his side for longer.

He could not know.

Shelby looked at the empty ward and smiled bitterly.

Two years ago, it was she who cried and told him she needed lots and lots of money and took the initiative to set up the deal. She had been kept and supported by him as a lover.

In his mind, he probably thought she was a woman who loved vanity, how could he know that she had always loved him?

She had been doing well before.

For two years she had dressed the way he liked, obeying him as carefully as an obedient canary.

Even when he slandered her for being "unwilling to be in the room", she didn't say a word in response and acted like a mistress.

He loathed her gold worship, but tolerated her as well.

"You have less than a year."

Shelby overflowed with mournful laughter. Her heart was empty and the room was full of cold wind.

She blamed herself for being indiscreet.

She also blamed herself for being greedy.

At least she was still with him.

At night, Jackson's car appeared outside the courtyard.

Shelby was full of joy, rushed over and ran into him. And before she could remember to open her mouth, she was stopped by his mouth of a strong smell of alcohol.

She couldn't see the man's expression, but she took the highest enthusiasm to respond, as if it was the only way to keep the warmth of his affection for her longer.

A little longer.

........

Ring!

The alarm clock was ringing, Shelby dazedly rolled over and rolled onto a warm and broad chest, smelling a fragrance of coldness, she jerked open her almond eyes.

Coming into her eyes was a handsome face with sharp angles, sword eyebrows, straight nose and thin lips.

Last night was not a dream!

He was really back.

A glimmer of joy rose in her heart, and she couldn't help but reach out her hand to depict his sharp sword eyebrows with infatuation and caution.

Until her phone rang again.

She hurriedly pressed it off, fearing to wake him up, and gently took her phone to the bathroom.

"It's eight o'clock, and don't you forget the meet-and-greet today at ten." The impatient Mia, like an old mother, repeatedly admonished her, "Dress well, there are a lot of reporters coming."

Shelby was afraid of disturbing the man who was still sleeping and pressed her voice to say yes in succession.

She hung up the phone and breathed a sigh of relief.

Silently pushing open the bathroom door, she found the man awake, a pair of deep inked eyes just facing her way.

Her heart dropped a beat and she opened her mouth in panic, "You, you're awake."
