Chapter 9 Insufferable Arrogance
Some customers were carefully selecting raw stones. Holding magnifying glasses, they widened their eyes to examined attentively.
Isabel Su took a deep breath and feigned ease, "Yale, choose and show me what you've got. Don't let me down."
Yale Lin nodded his head and fixed his eyes on those raw stones of different sizes. They looked familiar and were divided according to sources, including Malaysia, Mowan Kihei, Hpakant, etc. Every stone had been labeled clearly with price and weight.
The high heels clattered, and Isabel followed Yale, carrying the bag. Wandering around, Yale didn't pick a single stone, but she saw some nice ones which had all been bought by other customers. Now she felt a little worried.
Quickening her steps, the beautiful woman caught up with Yale. Poking out her red lips, she spoke anxiously, "Why haven't you picked the stones? I saw a white Hpakant stone which looked nice. Its surface is thin, and the price is 660,000, not too expensive. You came here first but didn't pick it. It has been bought by Mr. Wei."
"Who is the boss now? If you have sharp eyes, why bring me here?" Yale replied impatiently, and his tone was sour.
Isabel's beautiful face blushed. Did she spend money to ask for suffering? She invited a man who didn't take her seriously. Did he know who was the real boss?
She just wanted to go off in a huff but refrained herself in the end. Maybe Yale had a temper because of his great skills. Anyhow, Isabel grumbled with dissatisfaction, "What if there is really jade in that stone, but haven't we missed it?"
Yale turned his head to look over and saw that fat boss had settled the accounts. In his arms was the raw stone mentioned by Isabel. In fact, he had examined that one carefully. Therefore, he snorted, "Wait and see, if that stone is lucrative, I will change my name."
Mr. Wei was full of anticipation as if holding a treasure. He thought highly of this stone but happened to hear the ominous words from Yale. In anger, he pulled a long face and cursed, "Bullshit, shut up your damn mouth, ignorant man, what do you know? This treasure will bring me at least ten times of interest."
Isabel pinched Yale's arm forcefully as a punishment of his nonsense. With a smile, she spoke to the boss, "Mr. Wei, don't listen to him. He is just a kid full of nonsense... If your stone proves lucrative, I will accompany you to have dinner as an apology. What do you say?"
Both as well-known business figures in Cloud Sea City, they certainly knew each other. Especially, Isabel was famous for her beauty. Many rich men often talked about her, but few had the chance to approach her. After all, she was pretty and rich. Money couldn't buy her.
Mr. Wei was overjoyed, and his sullen face lit up, regarding himself in luck today. Was he going to get the money and beauty? With a beaming smile, he said, "Then I will not squabble over it, but President Su, don't go back on your words."
"Of course, rest assured, you have my words." Isabel responded readily. In the meanwhile, she was anxious to see whether the stone she liked would be lucrative. If it would, that meant Yale was just bluffing, and she would give him a spanking.
"Okay, President Su, follow me and see the new generation of highest-grade materials."
The cutting machine was not far. Carrying the stone, Mr. Wei walked over with his head high. Isabel and Yale followed from behind. Customers gathering there all had positive comments on the raw stone.
"Mr. Wei has sharp eyes. This stone should be lucrative, at least several times than the original price."
"It looks great, not bad at all. When it is cut, Mr. Wei will make a great fortune."
Mr. Wei said confidently, "According to my experience, this stone should be a jade. Cut from the middle." He put down the stone and drew a line on it with a piece of chalk.
The processing worker nodded his head, and the cutting machine sparked. In a moment, the stone was cut to halves. Inside it was just stone with deeper color. No sign of jade could be seen.
There was a round of sighs, "Game over, not a good one..."
"It looks nice but shows its true colors after the cut!"
Now Mr. Wei looked frustrated and depressed. 660,000 yuan was gone for nothing.
Isabel was surprised as she also thought highly of the raw stone. As Yale had said, there wasn't jade inside. She rejoiced in her heart that she didn't buy it. Otherwise, she got a lot to lose!
She squinted at the side face of Yale. This man now looked indifferent. It appeared he had anticipated the result. Isabel admired him very much and thought Yale's bad attitude forgivable. After all, he was for her good.
"Let's go and take a look over there." Yale said.
"I'm all yours this time." Isabel smiled and followed Yale to the raw stone areas again.
After wandering around the long shelves for another circle, Yale finally halted his steps. There was a large, black, oval stone in the front with a handle on top.
This disappointed Isabel, but this raw stone was so unremarkable that no traces of jade could be found on it. With such an appearance, this stone couldn't have some fine stuff inside.
But because of its large size and weight, the price was 980,000 yuan. Therefore, no one paid attention to it.
Yale put his right hand on it, lowered his head, took a look and said undoubtedly, "Buy this one."
Isabel showed a difficult look, but this stone cost almost a million. Not willing to lose like this, she frowned, "Will this work? I have a magnifying glass in my bag. Use it for a closer look, but I don't think it is fine."
"What do you know?" Yale replied impolitely. Carrying the 30, 40 pounds stone, he headed straight to the cashier desk.
I was doomed. Isabel was almost driven crazy. Stomping her feet, she eventually carried her bag, trotted over and whispered her persuasion, "You should listen to me, but this stone will not work. We are sure to lose money."
"Cut the crap and swipe your card." Carrying the stone, Yale commanded unkindly like a grumpy master.
Although reluctant, she eventually took out a bank card and handed it over to pay for the stone.
Her glamorous face turned ghastly pale, determined to go all out. What was the big deal? It was just one million. If I lost, you would repay me. If you couldn't afford it, you should work for me for a hundred years. Wait and see how I treated you with whips.
The customers all around were all amazed. Who was this fellow? Dressed in cheap clothes, he should have such a deep connection with the famous social butterfly in Cloud Sea. His insufferable arrogance was so much that he didn't even care about beauty Su's reputation. He went too far.
It was said that Isabel Su was like a tough horse, but now she was so docile.
Although she looked displeased, she was obedient to that guy. That raw stone could hardly yield any jade, and she still bought it for 980,000. This was like throwing money!
