The Yucatan Peninsula is located in the southeastern part of Mexico, between the Gulf of Mexico and the Caribbean Sea. The northern and western coasts of the peninsula are mostly deserted beaches, and the eastern coast is mostly steep cliffs. There are many bays and islands scattered in between.
