FRIEND TO THE RESCUE

JEREMIAH

He woke up at the exact hour of mid night, and quietly walked out of his bed. He looked around the room and found out that everyone was fast asleep, snoring their self away. He shook his head at them snoring.

That's just how the guys room has always been. It's either you snore, or your friends do. Seeing that they were all deep in sleep, he decided to prepare for his plans.

Ever since the day he met the General who refused his plea to go in rescue of his friend, he had been planning how to go for the rescue mission on his own.

He had initially asked his friends to come with him, but they refused, telling him about the rules and consequences for disobedience. Since his friends gave him a negative reply, he had devised to go in rescue of his friend solely.

He packed all the necessary supplies he would need for his journey. He wasn't someone who abide by the rules by the way, because he believes that the rules are meant to be broken.

If no one was willing to to go rescue her, then he would save her alone. Damn the consequences for saving a life. A soldier was supposed to save his comrade.

Checking himself, he noticed that he was fully prepared for his journey so, he quietly left his quarters, closing the door behind him, why his friends kept snoring without a break.

Jeremiah already knows about the in and out of the camp, so he knew where to take his exit from, specially when he's been observing the area for a long time before now.

He quickly headed out of the camp, took his truck which he had parked some miles away from the camp and drove off.

Jerry knew he was in a risky, rescue mission and doing it alone won't be easy, but to him, it was better than sitting at camp while his conscience pricks him to death.

Everyone is acting cowardly, including the General, but he won't become a coward. He would rather go right into the woods and save his friend.

Some hours later, He arrived at the same spot where they camped at night. Since he was well-equipped before he came, he quickly parked his truck at a quiet area.

There was no need laying tent on the ground, since he had his truck. He quickly took out his meal and ate for the night before he sleeps because it was better to walk at daytime rather than night time.

He woke up at the break of dawn the next day, and decided to set out for his journey without time-wasting. He could still remember the route they passed, and he also knew that from now on, he might have to be sleeping in the woods. But that was better, so long as he's searching for Raquel.

Jeremiah walked for hours, just like the first time they arrived at the same place he was in now. After waking for more than five hours, Jeremiah's realized that, he's been walking for hours in a maze, because he somehow keeps finding himself at that same spot over and over again for hours now.

This was so strange. If this was a maze, then how did the beast easily take Raquel away, without anyone finding her. Actually, the day Raquel was kidnapped, most of the soldiers tried chasing after the beast, including himself. Just in the middle of their search, they heard the sound of a growl with heavy paws running towards their direction.

That was when they gave the order for everyone to retreat. Left for him, he wasn't planning on pulling back, but then, he was dragged away by his friends.

Ever since that day, he blamed himself and the officers for not standing head on to fight the beast. That was the main reason they were in the woods any way, but then, when the beast actually came, everyone turned cowards and rather preferred to run away than stand and fight.

Jeremiah still couldn't found his way around the forest. Suddenly, he began hearing the sound of a growl behind him. The growl was so loud that his heart sank at that very moment.

He immediately held his gun tightly, counting when he would turn around and pull the trigger, before the wolf manages to reach and probably rip him to shreds.

Just as Jeremiah took the charge and turned around, as he had imagined the mighty wolf with large fangs and green coloured eyes, suddenly launched at him at once. He was just about to pull the trigger when he found out that there was no bullet in his gun.

Shit! This was his last breath he thought. Jeremiah immediately closed his eyes, preparing for his death, when he suddenly heard a gun shot, which immediately made him open his eyes wide. He discovered that the big wolf was shot on the shoulder, but that only made him growl even louder, when Jeremiah was immediately pulled by someone he didn't even have the chance to look at, as he was escaping for his life. It was only after they managed to run out of the woods, that he realized it was his friend Timothy.

“Timothy! Why are you here!?” Jeremiah was so shocked and perplexed to see him. Timothy on the other hand, looked very pissed at him.

“Why the hell did you leave without telling me, Jay!” His friend yelled at him, with so much anger.

He was still confused as to how his friend came into the woods at the right time.

He stared at his friend suspiciously even though his friend actually saved him from death.

“I'm sorry I have to done things on my own.”

“Wait a minute, who came with you?" He asked his friend desperately. Timothy on the other hand, seemed as though he had been exposed.

“It's the General.” Jeremiah stared at his friend in utter shock.

“What!” why will his father come to the woods with his best friend? Could this mean they have been keeping a close watch on him?
