RAQUEL

Raquel opened her eyes wide in shock for the second time, reasons being that she was paired with the two blonds and another lady with light-brown hair.

This was going to be tough, how was she to leave with two weird ladies and some strange woman, back at her home, she only stayed at the field when it was her turn.

The moment she was done with her shift, she headed straight to her parent's home, since it was just an hour drive.

Raquel glared at the two ladies in front of her.

“What do you want?".

“We want to take this spot”

One of the blondes pointed to her bed.

“What?, where will I sleep then? You know there are only four beds here in the room?”

“We don't care, find somewhere, maybe the bed closer to the bathroom or something”.

Raquel, was becoming enraged, but she tried her best to control her rising temper at this point.

She cautioned herself not to lash out, at least not when she's still new.

Every week, they changed her sleeping position when she was about getting comfortable on her new bed. She supposed all these little bullying was as a result of her having a lower rank than the rest of them.

She quietly took her belongings, to the wooden bed closer to the bathroom.

They knew nothing about her, perhaps they didn't think about the reason she was transferred to the headquarters even when her rank wasn't as high as theirs.

Everyone knew her as “the slayer” back in her hometown because she was good at everything she did.

It was through the help of one of her superior that she was able to apply for a transfer.

Mr. Graham Roger is the major in command in her home district.

At first, when she started as a rookie, he never paid much attention to her, he refused her from taking on some hardcore trainings.

She liked training with the ladies, but rather she challenged herself with the guys. It didn't take long before they saw how good she was. She was seen as a born soldier, to her, she only knew it was her hard trainings that brought her thus far.

At the early hours of the morning, they did their morning exercises, and it couldn't get any worse.

Jade and Bianca would always make her run more laps than the rest of the soldiers, since they were assigned to lead the training exercise for the week.

It was so sad that over the month, she's never been given an opportunity to lead the exercise, maybe because they looked down on her for being the lowest ranked soldier in their midst.

Raquel sat on the field after running ten more laps, making it 100 laps that she had run for the day

Just as she sat down sipping the water in her bottle, Jade approached her.

“What the fuck are you doing with a water bottle, Raquel!?".

Raquel gazed up at Jade to her, confused.

“I'm drinking water from it because I'm thirsty”.

Jade immediately yanked the bottle away from her and threw the content away.

Raquel froze, this can't possibly be happening to her at this point, it wasn't as though it was a rule to bully your colleague when at the fieldin fact, it was against the law.

She had only tried to control her anger for her own good because she didn't want trouble, and it wasn't as though she could not bully if she actually wanted to.

“You might as well get me a new one, since you decided to throw mine away”

Raquel said, standing up to her feet to face Jade.

“How dare you talk to me rudely!?”. Jade yelled at the top of her voice.

“It seems you need to run more lap. I order you to run another hundred laps”.

Raquel suddenly burst out in fits of laughter.

“What are you laughing about, I said run another lap!!”.

Raquel walked close to Jade at this point.

“Why should I run another lap?”

Jade, who seemed to be very pissed walked even closer to her.

“Because I said so as your leader!”

“Then I'm sorry to disappoint you because I won't be running any more lap at your command anymore”.

Raquel said, picking up her water bottle to leave.

“How dare you talk back at me, Raquel Peterson!!”

Raquel turned around and shot Bianca a death glared.

“You should never add my surname at your command, Jade, you want to avoid messing with me”.

This made Jade scuff at her, in a mocking manner.

“You better come back here and run your laps!”.

Raquel refused to listen to her, but rather walked away.

Jade scurried towards her, trying to launch a surprise attack at her, but Raquel wasn't called a slayer for nothing.

She turned, immediately just as Jade was about making an attack on her, she ran into jade lifting her up from the ground, she brought her to the ground in a smack down.

This made everyone at the training field yell, and screamed with applauds.

When Bianca saw this, she immediately charged towards Raquel for what she did to Jade.

She had no idea that Raquel had already anticipated for an attack from her.

The moment Bianca came charging towards her, Raquel prepared herself in a fighting position, her hands folded into fists, one leg backwards and the other forward.

She did not bother running towards Bianca, but rather waited for her to come closer to her and just as she did, Bianca raised herself from the ground to give her a flying kick, which Raquel dodged easily.

While Bianca was preparing for another attack, that was when Raquel attacked her, she gave her a hard blow to the head and chest, and immediately Bianca passed out.

“Yey!!!!” Everyone screamed at the defeat of the two blondes.

Raquel watched the two of them writhing on the floor. She guessed from now on, there will be no more bullying for her.

“Wow!, I never knew you are this good at combat”. Came Jerry from among the crowd.

Raquel, handshakes everyone who decided to salute her for her victory, after which they all dispersed to their various dorms.

The next morning, a hard bang on the door woke them all up.

“All breakers of the law, fall out."

This was a command, and Raquel didn't need to be told twice that they were about to be punished.

Raquel and the other blonds together with every other soldier present at the time of the incident were all told to present themselves for punishment.

That'd one of the law of the military, a crime for one is a care for all, also a punishment for one is a punishment for all.

The punishment given was that they were to go into the woods to bring behind bars the monstrous werewolf, that has been disturbing the villagers at a remote area in the northern province.

Everyone gasped for how severe the punishment was. They couldn't help but glare at Raquel, for being the reason they had to take on such a risky mission.

No human wanted to hear about the werewolves because they are known to be beastly creatures who did nothing but kill and destroy. Though there are some good ones who worked in the human community, but they swore a promise to never show their animalistic side to the humans knowing how violent they can be, when in their wolf forms.

This was terrible, Raquel blamed herself for not being patient enough to control her anger, now see where it had landed her and her colleagues.

Why won't they glare at her when she's the reason they are being punished?

While on their way back, Raquel could not help but eavesdrop on the conversation of some soldiers, talking about a monstrous beast who specialize in eating the liver of human kids and the hearts of the adults in other to preserve his immortally.

Listening to such stories gave Raquel the chills.

She can't believe that she was about embarking on a journey into the woods?, well, she couldn't be happier because she liked adventures, maybe this was an opportunity for her to go for the adventure she had always wanted.

She went back to her dorm to prepare for her journey, the blonds seemed to be very pissed now, but there was nothing much they could do to her, specially after what she did to them.

They caused the whole issue, if it were to be looked at logically.

Meanwhile, Cindy took a quick glance at them before going back to reading her book. Cindy was the weird one among them, she hardly spoke to them, that at times they thought she never existed.

She wasn't there when the fight began, so she was safe from the journey they were about embarking on.
