She opened her eyes. The first thing she felt in her body was pain. Every pain was unbearable. There were bandages covering up every inch of her body. Tears were welling up in her eyes because of pain. She scanned her surroundings. Nothing seemed familiar. Everything was new to her. She looked at the two strangers standing beside her bed and heard them talking.

"It's a miracle she survived that huge accident. I saw that horrible scene and thought'Oh poor lives! They had to die such a painful death'and the next second I heard her crying inside the car. I was rather surprised to hear a little girl crying inside that wrecked car. I was sure all would have died since the scene was so horribly devastating. The car was crushed beyond recognition and it fell from the top of the bridge upside down", said Emilie.

"Yeah! It seems God has other plans for her. The little girl has nine lives, all right! I wish she could give one of those to my mother", said Andrea.

"Don't you think you are asking too much, Andy? Your mother is already ninety-five. She has already lived her life in her best health. She's surely gonna pass away in a month or two. Don't waste the little girl's luck on your mother. The girl has managed to stay alive despite the huge accident and barely survived the major operation. And she still doesn't know about her parents. Poor girl! At such a young age she lost them both. My heart goes out to her. I wish she would wake up soon."

"But it's been a year Emilie! Don't tell me you still believe she will wake up from her coma?"

"There's always hope my dear Andy! There is always. This girl has got the will power to survive. That's what made her come out of tough situations not once but twice. You mark my words! She will surely wake up. And once she does, I'm gonna make her the happiest girl in the world. The poor girl has suffered a lot."

"Ah! I knew it Em. You are having another one of those craziest ideas, aren't you? I know you Em. I can bet anything in this world that you are gonna adopt her and treat her as your own daughter from now onwards. If you want a child so badly why didn't you marry Em?"

"Look Andy, I already told you that reason a thousand times, didn't I? I don't trust men. Never. Cunning creatures. Always treating women only as their servants and as child bearing machines. I will never marry nor will I fall for a guy like you did Andy. And you fell for Philip. Of all the guys in the world, how can you fall for Philip? I don't trust that guy even a bit. Be careful with him Andy. It's an advice from a good friend. He's......"

"Enough enough Em. Here you go again with that stupid mouth of yours. Why can't you see the good in Philip as I do? Okay I'm not gonna argue with you. It's useless. And I'm not gonna tell you to marry too. And let me tell you this if in case you didn't realize, the reason you are giving for not wanting to marry is absolute bullshit okay. And don't give me that look. I'll stop now. Enough about us. Let's get back to that girl."

"The moment she wakes up, I'm gonna adopt her and make her my own daughter. I have always wanted to adopt a little girl but because of my parents I couldn't. But now, I'm free. I'm independent and I can make my own decisions."

"Wait you're serious? I thought you were just saying in the spur of the moment. You really wanna adopt her? But think a minute Em. You are barely managing to make ends meet with your salary. How will you take care of her?"

"Did you really forget? Though my parents passed away, they left all their wealth to me. Though they hated me all their life for not marrying the guy they chose, they didn't have a choice when the time came for them to decide who they should leave their wealth to. They obviously chose me since I'm their only daughter. Me, Emilie Sandfords, the only daughter of Thomas Sandford, CEO of Emi group of companies and one of the top five richest men in America."

"Okay okay. Don't be so proud of yourself. I think you have changed ever since you heard the news about being the only successor to your parents wealth. So when will the big money and the company come to you?"

"Uh huh, someone's jealous here. In a week or two I'll inherit my parents wealth and in another week I'll join Emi group of companies as their new CEO. I hope my little daughter wakes up before that."

"You can be greedy but not very greedy. And little daughter huh? Not so bad. Why can't you give her a new name then? So that she really becomes a new person before she becomes your daughter. Give that girl a break okay? She lost both her parents in a second and now there's a crazy lady who is obsessed with making her as her daughter. Come on. Don't be such a idiot. Don't stress her when she wakes up".

"I'm not an idiot Andy. I know wha-... Look her eyes are open. My little baby is awake."

She looked up to see two strange faces looking at her lovingly and she managed to whisper"Who am I?" before falling unconscious again.
