Chapter 1

Louis' pov

"Are you gay?"

Well, that was part of the last thing I heard from my parents before i was sent off to a boarding school.

************* (A week ago)

New York City, the city of countless opportunities, aside the fact that some part of the town smells like garbage, urine and whatnot, it's bound to have a disturbing smell considering the large population of people roaming the nation's melting pot, it's bound to get smelly. But even after most of this waste has been incinerated across the river, strong winds can still carry the stench back over to the city on a hot day.

There's still an amazing smell that the town gives off, New York smells like a lot of things and some of them are good. When you look outside your blurry window during fall, you could smell the dry leaves, and a somewhat subtle firewood odour. The smell of freshly baked bagels, the sweet smell of coffee although it doesn't necessarily taste good all the time. It's not surprising that Mr. Tritone introduced a legislature that would name pine as New York's official state scent.

Ripples of applause echoed in the room as Louis stood in front of at least eighty people in the audience rounding up his speech.

"I'm grateful to have won this award and also thankful to my parents for giving me countless opportunities to achieve my dreams" louis finished almost gagging at how he sounded when he knew he felt different about the situation, about everything.

He's a genius, a young prodigy, he was different than most of the normal eighteen year olds who loved to party and get high, he was special at least that was what he thought till his parents ridiculed him.

Series of people kept asking to take pictures with him, shake his soft hands, throw compliments at him before leaving to wherever they came from.

Louis sat in the waiting room idle and staring into space, waiting for his parents to finish acting like snobs so they could head home.

The door to the room opened and his parents walked in.

His dad was a business man and a high demanded lawyer, he won every case he laid his hands on. He was dark haired with a few strands noticeably gray. He was tall, broad shoulders and looked very intimidating. A middle aged man with a lousy temper, he was average looking and so was his brown haired mom who only wore body con dresses that looked great on her.

Louis has always thought that he looked nothing like his parents till he was told he was adopted when he was five, at least that explains why he was unbelievably pretty with green eyes and tiny freckles that suited  him perfectly.

"You were great today, you have an interview tomorrow as well, the mayor would love to greet you himself and i also want you to meet his daughter, her name's Aisha" His mom said grabbing her Chanel purse and ushering the rest of their family out of the door and outside with the cameras taking every single picture of them.

They settled in the car and louis could finally breathe, he was finally away from everything he hated. He didn't hate the fact that he was a genius, he wasn't gonna be hypocritical about his situation because a lot of most people wish they could be as smart as he was.

He hates how his life was always controlled by his parents, they chose whatever he has to wear, whatever he has to eat, the sort of friends he had to keep and where to go. He hated every single thing, he hated that he couldn't be a normal teenager who would be at a party Friday night and pretending he's a good drinker.

He always wanted to escape because he felt trapped in his room filled with science wallpapers that his parents put up themselves, he wanted to own Kpop wallpapers and merch like every other person who loved Kpop but they'd never let him.

He wanted to wear a rainbow name tag on his uniforms to show everyone that he wasn't ashamed of who he was but he'd never dare do what he wanted, his parents have no idea who he really was.

"Why are you so quiet?" His dad asked making a right turn.

"I just hate being surrounded by cameras and people who pretend to care about me"

"A lot of people wish to be like you, do you know that?"

"I don't think most people love their privacy being invaded by reporters and having questions thrown at them or cameras shoved in their face"

"Don't sound so ungrateful Louis and when we get home, prepare a speech for your meeting with the mayor tomorrow" his mum added handing him a fountain pen.

"Okay"  Louis answered in a low tone staring outside the window.

***************

"Hey guys, it's me again louis. Today we're gonna be talking about this new cosmetics shop I discovered in downtown east avenue. It has everything and i bought a few things to start the semester next week, give me a minute to get it"

I always had to go live on Tuesdays and fridays to talk about the part of my life that isn't focused around me acting like what i wasn't in front of people. I have a good amount of followers, five thousand and twelve and i love to think they adore me because i wanted to feel that love that neither my parents or myself could give.

I bumped into my side mirror cursing under my breath before i noticed my parents standing at my door and glaring at me.

"Why the hell is a boy in front of our house with white roses asking to see you and what does he mean, that he's your boyfriend?"

My mum was furious, she was as transparent as anything, she could never hide what she was feeling, disgusted? annoyed? irritated? she could pull off every facial expressions to pass her message to you.

"Who the hell is that blondie downstairs that claims he's your boyfriend?."

“Are you gay?”

Oh shit.
