Chapter 3, Friday

Peter woke up feeling a fine way the next day. His mind drifted to what had happened the previous day. It was the first time he had been at the backseat of the police car, under arrest. It made him laugh at himself. Thankfully, it was a small arrest, his details were not registered in the police data base as a convict, it would affect his career. He had to be careful indeed, just like his mom had told him. It was Friday, the last day of the week for school; he hated school because of the bully's. Those guys never let him be; Freckle face was all he heard anywhere he went within the school premises. He just had to make good grades at all times and move to the next phase of his career. That was his goal, and he meant to focus on it. Someone knocked on his door.

'Peterrrr' his sister, Lily called him; she did that every morning. This morning however was different, she had come to talk about the event of the previous day. Peter unlocked the door, letting her in.

'What?' he asked her, knowing she only came to be mischievous.

'Mummy said you were arrested' Lily said to her brother, laughing with her right hand over her mouth. Peter rolled his eyes;

'Have you even brushed your teeth, go get ready for school, your bus will be here soon'; Peter teased her;

'Mummy's dropping me, she's taking Martin to the hospital so i'm joining her, I have time; tell me what happened yesterday?' she insisted.

'I got in a fight' Peter told her; 'Everybody always tries to bully your big bro, cause i'm a star and they know' he said, giving Lily a friendly jab; They both laughed.

'You get'em bro' Lily said hugging him; 'They'd all back off when you make it to the NBA' Lily told her brother. She was his number one fan; they teased themselves a lot, but they also loved each other a lot too. Lily was always looking out for Peter when he got in trouble with their mum; she would use every tactics in her books to advocate for her big brother, and vice versa.

'Have to get ready for school' Peter said; 'See you at breakfast' he told her, ushering her out.

'When are you going to move into campus, you're in the basketball team, I bet they all live on campus' Lily asked her brother;

'Are you trying to get rid of me?' Peter asked Lily. 'The are going to bully me too much, i'd rather ride my bicycle to school everyday, till I get over this early stage' Peter said whining. His house was not so far from his college; with his bicycle, he could get there in twenty minutes tops; Lily rolled her eyes at Peter;

'Scaredy cat' she said, leaving his room and shutting the door behind her. Peter breathe in deeply, Lily was right; sooner or later he had to go live in school with the rest of his team mates.

Peter joined the rest of the family at breakfast. His mom smiled at him; she was proud, she knew he was going to end up well at the end of the road;

'Hey big man' she greeted Peter when he showed up from his room;

'Hi mom' he said, sitting and grabbing a plate. His brother Martin cooed at the sight of his elder brother; Peter carried him, they were fond of each other, it was like they actually spoke to each other; it was a lovely sight to witness.

'Butter or Mayonnaise' Mrs Cordey asked Peter;

'Mayonnaise and some jam untop' Peter told his mom;

'You're a grub? that's too much' his mom teased him, spreading a generous amount of mayonnaise and jam on Peter's bread. He tried to put Martin down, so he could eat; Martin clung to his shirt, making a face like he was going to cry if Peter let go;

'I want to have breakfast' Peter told Martin; Martin laughed as if he understood what Peter said; Peter had to have breakfast with Martin sitting on his lap, trying to take every bite of Peter's bread with him; Peter was done soon, and said goodbye to his mom and siblings, setting out for school on his bike. It was a dull friday morning, he rode lazily to school; he had time, he wasn't in a hurry to go and meet his bully's. Peter's phone rang just when he was a block away from home; it was his friend from the basket ball court the previous day, he called to find out what happened with Peter;

'Well, you abandoned me' that's what happened; Peter said sternly when his friend asked him;

'No, I had to run, my mom would have killed me, she asked me not to come out to play, I didn't listen' his friend told him.

'My mom wasn't happy either' Peter said, surprised at his friend for using his mom as an excuse.

'Peter you are already in college' his friend told him; 'I've not been accepted yet into any college, my mom thinks i'm wasting my life playing ball all day, she's going to ground me soon I can smell that' Peter's friend revealed to him.

'Study harder' Peter told his friend abruptly, hanging up the phone before he could get a reply. His friend sent him an angry emoji when Peter hung up.

'See you later' he said in another text. Peter ignored it. His mind suddenly went to Ariel, she was going to join his school soon; probably his department also; they were both interested in the arts, hopefully she was close by him and he wouldn't have to walk a far distance to pay her a visit. Most of his bullies were in the science department.

'Damn, those roughians' Peter thought. He couldn't wait for Ariel to resume. They would go to school together; Wait! he had to move into the campus soon. Hopefully, things would fall in place he thought, pulling in and parking his bike at the school parking lot.
