Chapter 2

AMANDA

"He has the audacity to say that, huh? What a thick-skinned individual! He's disgusting! He really did commit his obscenity in your own home! He has no remorse in his heart!" Wendy looks so mad.

I remained silent. I'm at a loss for words. I'll admit that I'm sad. I'm depressed, angry, and feeling sorry for myself because I used to love that type of man. Wendy approached me because she thought I was about to cry.

"Do you have any regrets for what happened? I mean, despite everything, do you want to rekindle your relationship with him? You've been in a relationship for a year, after all."

I shook my head as I made a shaky motion. "No, Wendy. Such people do not deserve my tears! I'm sorry for wasting my time with him,"

Wendy breathed a sigh of relief. "Oh my goodness, thank God! I assumed you're still trying to work things out with him."

"I'll never be sorry for what I did to him, Wendy. I'm not blind to Gregory's flaws, but it didn't bother me back then because no one is perfect."

"But he's more than just flawed! There aren't enough words to describe him properly. I've always had an uneasy feeling about him. I sense something bad about him," She admitted.

I turned to face my friend and raised my head. My eyes were filled with astonishment. "Wait, what do you mean?"

Wendy exhaled a sigh.

"Please accept my apologies, Amanda. But I had a bad feeling about Gregory the first time I saw him. I just let you be with him because I know how much you love him,"

"Is it related to the fact that he doesn't have a permanent job?"

"It's one of the reasons," she replied.

"You and my father are both thinking the same thing," I said.

"Wait, really?"

I made a shaky motion. Despite my resentment of what my ex-boyfriend had done to me, I can't help but smile.

"I'm not upset, Wendy. I know you're only speaking the truth,"

"Amanda, you knew too much about me. I don't pass judgment on people just because they don't have a job."

"I'm aware of that," I said.

"Thank you very much. The only thing I'm curious about is that he completed his college education in the Nursing program. Why isn't he looking for work?"

I'm hesitant to inform Wendy that I, too, asked the same question. Gregory stated that his family is wealthy and does not face financial difficulties.

"He said his parents own a clinic, and he can work whenever he wants," I explained.

Wendy bobs her head in response to Gregory's explanation. "That is an unacceptable excuse, Amanda. Why doesn't he just admit that going to work every day isn't in his vocabulary? I'm sure he expects you to work for both of you! Because he knows you're a career-oriented woman,"

I didn't squabble with my best friend. Wendy is right.

I work as a model. I'm not famous, but I've never been short of projects or opportunities. My manager, who was in charge of me, described me as a classic beauty. My eyes have the power to captivate anyone.

I can't say I make a lot of money, but it's more than enough for me to save some money. In our province, I come from a wealthy family. The Marcelos Clan is one of the richest families in our province.

Gregory has many flaws, but I overlooked them because I loved him.

But what now? I had already enough of him.

I'm constantly hearing from other friends, particularly Wendy, that Gregory has been caught with another woman. That was something my father told me too.

But, yeah... maybe, like other women, I'm deaf and blind when it comes to love.

I used to tell myself that the people around us simply didn't like Gregory for me. And Wendy is the one who convinced me that Gregory is bringing another woman into my house!

I didn't want to believe her at first. I was out of town with my fellow models when she called. She informed me that she had seen Gregory with another woman.

I wouldn't believe her if she didn't say Gregory invites that woman to my townhouse.

Why wouldn't I believe my best friend? If her house was right next to mine? We live next door! We are neighbors!

I remembered giving Gregory a spare key to my townhouse. I used to have a lot of faith in him.

And, despite my manager's protests, I couldn't stop myself from leaving the set. At that point, I'm unstoppable. I dashed back home. And then this happened! This is what I get for everything I've done for Gregory, such heartache!

Wendy came up to me and hugged me tightly. "What are your current plans?" Her voice trembled with concern.

I hugged her back. I am grateful for her kindness and love for me.

"Wendy, I need to take a break. I believe I will return to our province. I am taking a vacation, even if only for a week. Gregory is someone I'm very familiar with. He isn't going to stop until I give in to him. And I'm not ready to confront him just yet. If you want to accompany me, pack your belongings,"

Wendy's face lit up. But my friend immediately pouted her lips. "I'm afraid I won't be able to join you there right now. Our new boss is very strict. I still have work to do. We have a deadline to meet," Wendy works for a well-known company as an assistant secretary.

I let out a sigh.

"Cheer up, Amanda. Maybe next time. But one thing is sure: I'll be visiting your province soon! Why, whenever you tell a story, your province appears to be a paradise!"

I couldn't help but smile. I'm looking forward to seeing her spending her vacation in my hometown. "Okay, make sure you come with me the next time. And if Gregory returns, please tell him not to bother me again," I reminded her of this.

Wendy simply laughed. "Oh, he'll never talk to me!"
