Daisy was stunned for a moment after hearing what Mr. Ruck was saying, she raised her eyes to ask him again when she saw him holding back his mirth and the dam broke and she started laughing hard since he has been holding his laughter, he joined in, and they both had a good laugh at the expense of their boss after the laughter subsided He motioned her to follow him and she stood up and followed.

They both came out and followed the hallway to the elevator and on entering, he pressed the penthouse floor and the elevator rode up in silence, with daisy wondering what exactly was wrong with David, and fear suddenly gripped her, what if he dies? Her heart became heavy with dread and confusion because she did not get why she cared.

On getting to the penthouse daisy could not help but gasp, it’s so lush and posh, the walls painted in beach white and the floor gold patterned rug, that felt so soft to walk on, after walking a long hall, they entered another well-polished door and inside with the whole city as a view is the living room, with beautiful furniture, lacking warmth just like a bachelor playboys lair, Mr. Ruck just gestures her to follow him to an equally sterile bedroom but it suddenly became interesting with Mr. David’s naked torso lying there on the bed, with the duvet only covering the lower part of his body, the doctor is seen sitting on a chair beside him and looking solemn, her heartbeat picked up immediately, the only thing stopping her from running towards him and holding his hands is the fact she does not know how he will react to that.

So she stood at the foot of the bed, waiting to hear what the doctor said, David looked at her and smiled very weakly and his heart clenched, she did not understand what is going on, he was just fine the day before, how did he become so sick just a few hours later? Daisy kept asking herself but no answer came up, she was so deep in her thoughts that she did not hear what was being said but saw the doctor's lips moving, she immediately focused

He kept complaining to me, about how weak he is, we put him on medication for the past year, but then she weakness intensified, so I had to run an MRI and cat scan on him and we found multiple tumors in his lungs, liver, kidney, and brain, and unfortunately it has grown past treatment, “ the doctor sighs dejectedly “ well he only has a few days to live” and that was the bomb that almost shattered daisy’s life and she staggered back and then legit started crying, full-blown tears, even ruck was not immune to it.

The ring of a phone interrupted their little cry fest, Mr. Ruck picked it up and went out of the room, by this time David had already fallen asleep from exhaustion and pain, Ruck gestured for daisy to come out, and rye doctor took the cue to step out as well and the door was quietly shut.

Mr. Ruck pushed a phone into the hands of a hiccuping daisy, who stops there blank for a moment, before placing the phone on-ear and that's when she picked up, the quiet crying going on in the background, the crying voice belonging to a woman and a masculine and shaky voice trying to console her while finding it difficult to put himself together and daisy’s heart went out to them.

“ GAT someone is on the phone,” said the female voice which surprisingly gained composure almost immediately and daisy heard some sound like the phone was being passed awkwardly to someone and then daisy heard the cold voice.

“ hello daisy, My son asked for only you by his side, I hope you are worth that kind of consideration “ daisy's heart suddenly flames with anger and she felt so insulted and then reminded herself why she does not help rich people, their arrogance, well at least the apple doesn't fall far,

“ hi Mrs. Trey, well if David your son was ok, would have felt very insulted by your statement, because whoring himself around, getting multiple restraining orders, he’ll be lucky I looked at him, but due to the situation, let's just say I am honored”

On the other part of the conversation, Mr. Trey raised an eyebrow in a pleasant surprise, thinking it is either the girl has balls of steel, or she doesn't know who she is talking to, he looked at his wife preparing to calm her down but she started laughing, laughing so hard that tears came out of her eyes, she someone felt happy not intimidated, a strong woman is what her son needs, warm returned to her voice as she spoke back “ good, now take care of my son, and please “ her voice cracked a little “ make him happy, for his last days, we will try to get there as soon as possible,” and she hung up, Daisy and Ruck were still shocked both for different reasons, Rucks reason was simple, Marg Sinclair trey is very tough and difficult who has no emotion in her dictionary, so listening to daisy talk back at her and still stands in front of him alive with no death threats is a blessing.

While daisy's surprise is how warmth seeped into her voice and emotion spoke through her, and relief that she was not wanted, based on the stories she has heard of her, but overall, his head is currently still on his shoulder which is good.

After that phone call and realizing what David chose, she knew that he needed her there with him, so she went home, thankfully, she did not meet anyone, she packed up he clothes and headed back to the office with a box.

Meanwhile, the whole situation was on a low, and nobody else in the company was aware of the situation, just Ruck and Daisy.
