Chapter 25 Dr. Chambers Appeared
Back in her room, Hailey received a phone call from someone named Molly Chambers.
As soon as the line was through, Molly's melancholy voice came over.
"Hailey, how did I offend you? You know that I wouldn't say I like sour food and still prepared so many lemons for me. You know what? The Coxs gave me a lemon tree. According to them, they selected the one with sourest lemons."
"You deserved it since you stole my paper for a competition!" Hailey answered.
"Your paper is so great and a major discovery in the medical world. It's a waste of resources if you keep it in the box." Molly argued.
"But it's an unverified theory. If it didn't work, wouldn't people laugh at us?" Said Hailey.
"Hailey, you're a medical genius, and your theories are absolute truth. I published it anonymously to benefit the medical world." Molly reasoned.
"Cut to the chase; how is Mr. Cox?" Asked Hailey.
"I've examined him. There is still hope, but he has been lying there for a long time. Given his condition, surgery is not suitable for the time being. He needs to recuperate for about a month." Molly replied.
"Okay, nurse his health first, and don't forget the other task. Also, tell the Coxs to keep it a secret." Hailey instructed.
"Rest assured, I've kept everything in mind and repeatedly told them to keep it confidential," Molly said.
"Okay, gotta go, time for bed," Hailey said.
"Eh, Hailey, wait, recently someone offered a high price to meet Dr. Chambers," Molly added.
"How much?" Hailey asked.
"200 million US dollars..." Molly answered.
"Tsk, what disease?" Hailey asked again.
"The patient's identity is mysterious, but they revealed a little information. Something is wrong with his eyes." Molly answered.
"Eyes? Unfortunately, I know nothing about this aspect, so that we won't take the order." Hailey concluded.
"Hailey, won't you give it a second thought? That's two...."
Before Molly could finish her words, Hailey hung up the phone.
...
Two days later, Amaya took care of Hailey's schooling.
She arranged for Hailey to study at East University, which was one street across from South University.
According to Amaya, their schools were near, and Eliza could take care of her.
Compared with the famous South University, East University was a place for those idle second-generation-rich to blow through life.
It was Hailey's first day of school today.
In a T-shirt and jeans, she looked no different from other college girls. However, when she raised her head, her face was so stunning that she didn't look like an ordinary schoolgirl.
She stood at the gate of Anderson's villa.
"Miss, Mister, and Madam were away in the morning. Miss Anderson also left for school. No drivers are at home now." Silas, the butler, explained.
The Anderson Family was not large, but they had many servants and even hired a butler as those major families did.
"Any cars left in the garage?" Hailey asked.
Silas was surprised and doubted this bumpkin could drive.
"There is one."
"Where are the car keys?"
The butler realized his improper speech and wanted to slap himself. That sports car was the young master's favorite. He certainly could not let the bumpkin ruin it.
"Oh, Miss, something is wrong with that car. It should be repaired."
"How am I supposed to go to school?"
In the villa area, even taxis were rarely seen, not to mention buses.
"Miss, there is another vehicle available."
As Silas pointed to a spot, a servant pushed over an old bicycle. She could even hear clunks from a distance.
Hailey sneered. Amaya must have spared no effort to turn up the garbage and find such a rusty bike.
"Thank you, Silas!"
Hailey took a cold look at the butler. Somehow, he felt a shiver down his spine and a lot of pressure.
Weird!
Before he could figure out the reason for the feeling, Hailey had walked to the garage.
A grass-green Porsche convertible car immediately came into view.
The car was fine, but its color was terrible.
This car belonged to Eliza's brother, Vincent Anderson. Three years ago, he went to Country M for further studies and would come back to Sea City next year.
Hailey walked around and spotted a dark-gray Audi sedan in a corner. It was an old model from 20 years ago, and half of the logo had been worn out. Perhaps because it was too old, no one had noticed that the key was still in the keyhole.
She didn't know why but found the car familiar.
She got in the car, started the engine, and stepped on the accelerator. Then the car started moving.
