Chapter 4 I Prefer You to Money

The word "but" that came out of the mouth of Charlie made Zoey's heart fall heavily. Charlie continued, "Miss Carter, would you mind signing a prenuptial agreement with me?"

A prenuptial agreement?

Zoey, a student majoring in law, was naturally clear about what it was and what it meant. In fact, she could not accept a prenuptial agreement. It was not good for their marriage as it was like that they had believed their divorce was inevitable before they got married.

Zoey withdrew her hand and fixed her eyes on him without a word. After a minute, Charlie thought that she had regretted sneering, "Why do you not agree? Didn't you say you want to marry me because you love me?"

"No, I'm just disappointed that you still don't trust me... I can sign a prenuptial agreement. Even if we get divorced in the future, I will not ask for a penny from you!" Zoey stared into Charlie's profound eyes and said.

Zoey's quick consent was a surprise to Charlie, who softened his tone and explained.

"Miss Carter, you should have understood that I don't like you at all. Compared to marrying a man who doesn't love you, it's better to take the money and find the love that really belongs to you."

"If you decline to marry me, I will grant you a substantial amount of money, which is enough for the rest of your life. If I were you, I would choose the money over marriage without love."

Charlie retrieved a blank check, put it on the table, and pushed it in front of Zoey, exhorting, "Here's a blank check. You can write down a number as you wish."

Zoey did not expect Charlie to humiliate her with money. She stared at Charlie's signature on the blank check. His writing was lively, vigorous, beautiful. It was as charming as him... But sometimes, he was so annoyed that she wanted to bite him.

She picked up the check and gave Charlie a seductive smile, asking, "What if I write an astronomical price that you can't pay?"

"That's not what Miss Carter needs to worry about," Charlie answered confidently, relaxing and reclining in his wheelchair.

"Then what should I worry about?"

The delicious food on the table had been cold, and Charlie lost his patience. He glanced at the watch on his wrist and urged, "Miss Carter, fill it out quickly. You'll get the money tonight."

"Unfortunately, I prefer to sleep with you over the money!"

Zoey picked up the check and tore it to pieces right before Charlie. And then she pouted and blew the fragments gently into his face. The fragments were like a flurry of snowflakes sweeping through Charlie's dark brown hair.

Charlie's eyes shone with surprise. Obviously, he did not expect this woman to be so... His face sank, his eyes tinged with anger.

"Good! Very good! I hope you will not regret it!"

"I won't!" Zoey replied with braveness and resolution.

There was no love in their eye contact. They seemed to be in a contest in which Zoey won the first round.

"Grandma said that the wedding is on the 8th of next month. When are we going to select the wedding dress?" Zoey's pretty eyes were filled with anticipation.

"No wedding!"

"..."

"Miss Carter, you won't be happy if you marry me!" Charlie left in indignation, his eyes full of hatred against Zoey.

"Charlie, you wait. I will make you fall in love with me, make you love me so much that you believe that I am the only one you want to marry!" Zoey shouted at Charlie.

Only Zoey understood how brave she was at the moment. The man who she had loved at first sight to her was what flame to the moth.
