Chapter 11 Get Lost
At Sarah's words, the classroom fell silent again.
After a good while, Brad said in a listless tone, "Boss, I'd believe you if you said you were going to take on two big guys by yourself, but you said you were going to study hard and became an excellent student. That's.."
Brad did not finish the latter half of his last sentence, but his expression was filled with distrust for Sarah.
Sarah was not annoyed at his words and remained calm as she said, "Why don't you and I make a bet?"
Brad was a little shaken when he saw Sarah's unruffled and determined expression.
Sarah continued, "Are you scared?"
Being provoked by Sarah, Brad immediately patted his chest and said, "What's there to be afraid of? I've never been scared of anything. Go ahead and tell me about the bet."
Seeing that Brad got hooked, Sarah curled up lips into an inscrutable smile, saying, "Let's bet that if I get into the top 100 in the next monthly exam, then from now on, all of you will have to study hard with me and make progress together. If I fail, I will leave you to whatever you fancy to do and never interfere. How about this? Dare or not?"
"Why not?" Brad slapped the desk and accepted the bet.
With that, the classroom maintained silent for a while, then someone protested.
"Brad, it's unfair for you to drag us into this bet."
"Exactly, if you lose the bet, we will all have to suffer with you."
Brad became irritable, replying, "What do you mean by "suffer with me"? Isn't our class a group? Can't we even get through this little thing shoulder to shoulder?"
The rest of the class fell speechless.
How could he call this "little thing"? It was clearly a significant life issue!
Seeing that the crowd quieted down, Brad continued, "Besides, don't you forget who our Boss is? She always takes the last place in terms of grades. So, you guys, be confident, alright? I'll win this, don't you think so?"
Sarah rolled her eyes inwardly.
Why did she feel like the guy was undermining her?
The crowd still buttoned up their mouths. After clearing her throat, Sarah said, "You guys are usually quite courageous. Why don't you even dare to make a bet with me now?"
Although the students of Class 15 were lousy in terms of grades, they were proud and arrogant on the other hand. Under Sarah's and Brad's adjoining stimulation, one by one, they slapped their desks, shouting, "Okay, we'll bet with you."
"That's right. I don't believe you can rise to the top 100 in just one month."
"Right, we'll bet with you."
For a moment, the classroom was overwhelmed by enthusiastic responses to the bet.
Alan Carter, who had been resting upon his desk in another corner of the classroom without saying a word, could not help but glance up at Sarah. After the quick glance, he bent over the desk again.
At this moment, Maggie Scott got back to the classroom. Hearing the noises, she said casually, "Gee, it's a vibrant scene, isn't it?"
Maggie strolled in from outside in a non-mainstream, exaggerated outfit, asking, "I heard a pretty girl joined our class. Where is she?"
Leaning against the doorframe with her arms crossed, Maggie carelessly looked around the classroom. When Maggie noticed Sarah, she was first stunned by the latter's beauty, then revealed an annoyed expression.
"Who has allowed you to sit in that seat? Get up and get lost!" Maggie said in a cold tone.
