One of the men taps on her shoulder, “Miss Harris, you need to come with us.”

Delaine is frozen…..frozen to the spot.

“H...how could you ?” She gasps out, looking to her brother as she clings on his arms, shaking it, hoping to elicit a response from him, “How could you do this to me ?” Dan keeps his head down as his sister tries to make him speak but he was too ashamed to say anything.

“Where’s the money ?” Her mother says to the man who tapped Delaine’s shoulder.

Another man places an open suitcase on the table filled to the brim with 100-dollar notes. “Do we consider the deal done ?” The buff man asks.

“Take her away.” Delaine’s mother says, her face emotionless.

Ashen-faced, she looks to her mother, not able to believe what was happening right now.

The man in the black suit grips Delaine’s shoulders to make her come with him, “You need to come with us, miss.” He grimly says.

But Delaine doesn’t budge.

“No...I’m not going anywhere.” She says tears streaming down her face. Anger bubbling up inside her, she acidly says to her father, “Is this how daughters are treated in our family ? They’re sold off to the mafia to live out the rest of their life as a whore ?” Delaine screams, banging on the table until her knuckles start to bleed.

“I’m so sorry.” Her father replies, holding his head in his hands.

“You’re sorry !?” Delaine screams in her father’s face. But then her voice lowers a few decibels, “Please don’t let them take me away.” Her breath hitches as tears stream endlessly down her face.

“Just take her away.” Her mother interjects, her face devoid of any emotion.

One of the men who Delaine now knew worked for Carlisle Santiago tried to drag her away as he took hold of her hand but she jerked it back hard.

“No, please…..I didn’t agree to this.” Delaine yells, crying her heart out as she banged her hands against the table, not paying any heed to her bloodied knuckles.

“Dan…” She helplessly looks at her brother, hoping he’d say something and not let her be taken away. But he doesn’t.

Two of the men were now trying to drag her away now but Delaine beats against them, trying to crawl away.

Tears stain her cheeks as she looks from her father to her brother, both of them just sat there with sad frowns. And that’s when it really dawned on her…...her parents had decided to sell her just so they could send their son away to a good college. They didn’t care for her…..at all.

“Y...you can’t be my family.” Delaine says, her whole body trembling.

All her crying and her screaming ceased when she felt a needle being poked into her neck.

Her shameless family just sat there whilst she was being dragged away….dragged away into the most horrible place on this Earth for a woman.

The serum took a toll on her and her eyes immediately closed as she felt like she was thrown into a drug-infused daze, her body no longer trembling.

But even the drug couldn’t stop the tears which refused to stop flowing from her eyes even though she was unconscious.
