Chapter 4 Where's Master Brain?

Louise's voice was loud but high-pitched, exposing her guilty conscience.

"It's your Uncle David who has been supporting this family. Although our lives seem decent, we're actually not that rich. We just pretend this way for business's sake. Now I'm pregnant, and the expenses are even bigger."

She stroked her flat belly, adjusted her collar, and touched her diamond necklace.

She was really nervous about those trifles in the Wexler's.

Tessa saw through this woman and sneered. As her ears filtered Louise's voice automatically, she took out her phone.

Then, she texted Samuel that she was going back home.

[Samuel: I was freaked out, boss. I thought you were kidnapped and almost asked for help.

T: Who could kidnap me?

Samuel: Hehe, I was just too anxious. Will you participate in the auction tomorrow evening?

T: Pick me up by then.]

She closed the dialogue box and clicked a user called "Felix Legend".

[T: When I approached him, the discomfort disappeared. It might be because of his scent.

Felix Legend: His perfume or something?

T: I have no idea.

Felix Legend: Some special scents indeed can cure diseases, but it may also be a coincidence. You have to check a few more times.

T: OK.

Felix: Contact me anytime.]

Tessa put away her phone and looked at the scenery outside the window.

Was that the reason why her three elders wanted her to marry Vance? But why didn't they tell her directly?

...

Veronica Art Gallery.

After recovering his calmness, Vance stood in front of a new painting and talked with the manager.

"Master Brain's every work is a masterpiece."

The manager nodded instantly and also complimented. But then, he said with pity,

"But he's too mysterious. If his works were not circulating, I would doubt that there was no such a man in this world."

Vance narrowed his eyes. "Who sent this painting here?"

"The CEO of a listed company. He's never met Master Brain either and just bought this painting by chance. I can tell from his blond hair that he doesn't know the value of art, or he wouldn't sell this masterpiece."

The manager sighed softly.

The gallery was left by Veronica King, Old Mr. King's third daughter. Now, the old man planned to hand it over to one of his grandsons.

His eldest grandson had been active in working out a blueprint that had won his praise.

From a selfish perspective, the manager hoped Vance could take over this gallery.

After all, Veronica had loved Vance the most when alive.

If she could speak, she would wish her gallery was inherited by Vance.

But Vance hadn't taken any action. He was merely looking for Master Brain, a legendary artist of traditional Chinese paintings.

When receiving this painting, the manager had made detailed inquiries. But still, there was no clue about Master Brain's whereabouts.

"Mr. King, the two-month time limit is almost up. What about..."

"There's no hurry," Vance said calmly. "We still have time."

Affected by his confidence and composure, the manager also settled down.

This foresighted man must have made a thorough plan.

Just then, Michael Oliver, Vance's assistant, sneaked in.

He thought he didn't make a sound, but he was still caught by Vance's stare at once.

Michael reported hurriedly, "She left with a woman. I've checked the monitors and found the car number. The others are still under investigation."

Hearing that, Vance drew back his attention to Master Brain's work.
