Chapter 4 The Goodwin Family, the Real Rich

Sure enough, Lucas spoke in an emotionless tone of voice, "You may leave now."

The Young Family was no big deal in Lucas's eyes. However, it was not time to enlarge the conflict.

Besides, since Mollie was Lydia's friend, the former should not have approached him on purpose. As they were two harmless college students, it was pointless to clash with them.

On Friday evening, while Mollie was concentrating on playing video games in her apartment, her cell phone aside beeped.

After a quick glance, she turned on the speaker. "Mom, what's the matter?"

"The Goodwin Family has invited our family to dinner. Come to join us tonight." Susan Bryan, on the other end of the line, sounded in a nice mood.

"You guys go ahead, then. What's the point of calling me over?" The family in Susan's mouth was the Crook Family that she remarried into. Mollie did not like those members of the family and rarely participated in group activities together with them. Eating should be enjoyable, but eating with them was torture for her. Therefore, she was unwilling to show up.

"Come on, sweetheart. That's the Goodwin Family I'm talking about. The head of the four supreme families in City Empire. Being invited by them to dinner is no different from being invited by an emperor in ancient times. It was a huge honor. You dress up well and go straight to Sonia Grand Hotel in an hour."

With that, Susan hung up. Meanwhile, Mollie's avatar in the game was hacked to death by someone.

With her eyes closed, she said inwardly, "Well, that's your Mom, your biological mother."

She might be careless of anyone in the world, but Susan was an exception.

Mollie's father died when she was three years old when Susan was a simple twenty-four-year-old girl. To feed Mollie, she had to sell alcohol in bars and wander among various men.

Mollie knew well that it was the life that forced her mother into a snobby and money-loving woman and felt heartbroken because of that. So, she usually followed her mother's instructions.

Sonia Grand Hotel was the best hotel in City Empire, and it was said to have reached the seven-star standard.

Standing at the entrance, Mollie lowered her head to look at her light blue dress and white sneakers and adjusted her bun hairstyle, wondering if her outfit was suitable for this occasion.

Usually, people in and out of this kind of place would dress formally. Would the doorman stop her from entering?

After thinking for a moment, she sent a text to Susan, asking her to come to lead her in.

Soon after, Susan, in a royal blue evening dress, walked out. Upon seeing Mollie's plain dress, she reached out to knock her forehead with her finger, saying, "I told you to dress up well. Look at you. You are utterly different from me, your mother! Can't you be slightly more ambitious?"

Mollie followed her mother with her mouth pursed. Susan's so-called being ambitious was to marry into a wealthy and influential family. Mollie decided that was not what she wanted. All she needed was a man in love with her, and she wanted to build up a family with him and give birth to a baby.

The Goodwin Family was the real rich, which could be told from the large private room with 500 square meters they booked for dinner. In the room, there was not only a chess and cards table, a tea table, but also a swimming pool and a theater.

They waited for more than ten minutes, and members of the Goodwin Family eventually showed up. It was Lucas and his father.

After exchanging several words with each other, they got seated.

As Mollie was not in a formal dress, she kept her head down all the time. She was not afraid of being laughed at but did not want Susan to feel uncomfortable.

"Mr. Crook, we're both straightforward men. I'm going to cut to the chase, then." Stanley Goodwin said with a standard smile.

"Please go ahead!" Alec Crook, Mollie's stepfather, flashed a flattering smile.
