Chapter 18 Her Heart Will Split
The event ended and Vivian took care of trivia before leaving at the end.
Passing backstage, she saw Hudson talking to the merchant.
The merchant looked scandalized and taunted him, "Mr. Attlee, this is not proper. You're holding up your sign with aplomb and you tell me you don't have enough money now. Are you kidding me?"
"I'm so sorry." Hudson groveled and fawned on him, "I don't have enough money now. Would you give me a couple of days to collect some?"
"Huh?" The merchant got a little angry and mocked him, "Give you some days? Are you kidding me? No money? So don't pretend to be a rich man. Mr. Attlee, don't you know that today's launch is a game for the rich? It's the first time I've ever seen a 'rich man' like you, who required us to give you some days to collect money!"
Hudson felt embarrassed and retorted, "Please respect me!"
"Respect? Fine. Mr. Attlee, please pay according to the auction bid!"
Hudson couldn't afford it and shut up in an exhausted manner.
The merchant smirked contemptuously, "No money? Then I'm sorry, but the deposit you paid when you entered is non-refundable. That's the rule!"
Hudson was stunned, so would he lose tens of thousands of yuan?
There was a sound of heels and Valerie came over. She was furious at this, "Hudson, I was wondering why you didn't come out yet! How glorious for you! It's humiliating!"
After yelling, she turned around and walked away.
Hudson busily chased after her to comfort her, "Valerie, Valerie, listen to me!"
The merchant sneered, "Hmm, poor kid pretended to be a big wig! Mr. Luke can make fool of him like make fool of a monkey if he offended Mr. Luke! Stupid!"
Vivian was stunned. She had felt embarrassed for Hudson. Hearing this, she realized that all Jonathan had told Zack to do was to embarrass Hudson!
Out of the convention center, Jonathan's car was already parked in front.
Zack went over and asked Vivian to get in, "Miss Swift, Mr. Luke has been waiting for you for a long time."
"Got it." Vivian nodded and got into the car.
The car started smoothly.
Jonathan opened his eyes and picked up a brocade box from the seat and handed it to Vivian, "Open it and see if you like it."
"..." Vivian stared at the brocade box without moving.
She knew that the brocade box contained a ruby jewelry worth over a hundred million yuan. It was an astronomical price for the poor, but an easy game for the rich.
When she didn't move, Jonathan narrowed his eyes and snorted, "What's wrong?"
Vivian looked up abruptly and looked directly at Jonathan, "Mr. Luke, is it your idea of fun...to play with ordinary people with money and power?"
"What do you mean?" Jonathan put away his already thin smile and suddenly became angry.
"Don't you know?" Vivian wasn't afraid of him, "You embarrassed Hudson, didn't you?"
How did she know? Jonathan froze and suddenly looked at Zack in the front seat.
"Mr. Luke," Zack was busy shaking his head, "It wasn't me. I didn't tell her!"
Vivian sneered, "If you want to stay out of the way, then don't do that!"
Jonathan turned furious and scoffed, "You're accusing me? I help you teach that jerk a lesson, and you accuse me?"
"I..." Vivian froze, feeling somewhat guilty.
"Don't want it?" Jonathan tapped his jaw with his fingers and shoved the brocade box into her hand, "I told you it was bought for you and it's yours!"
His forceful attitude provoked Vivian's intense displeasure. She refused, "I don't want it!"
"Vivian Swift!" growled Jonathan, and the carriage was instantly quiet.
Vivian stared at him silently. His eyes were dark and his mind unfathomable, and she subconsciously swallowed.
"I'm going to ask you again, do you want it?" Jonathan almost gritted his teeth.
"...No." Vivian hesitated for a moment but still gave the same answer.
As soon as she finished, Jonathan raised his hand and dropped the window. He threw his arm up and threw the brocade box!
"Ah..." Vivian was so shocked that she took an intake of breath!
The car was driving across the bridge. Jonathan had thrown over a billion yuan of ruby jewelry into the sea!
"You..." Vivian pointed at him incredulously and her pink lips were quivering, "You...psycho! Psycho!"
"Psycho?" Jonathan leaned in close to her and stared at her oppressively, smiling wickedly, "If you don't want it, why should I keep it?"
Vivian felt like her heart was going to split! She stared at Jonathan motionlessly, tracing his profile with her vision. She came up with a scaring idea. This crazy guy, he couldn't be...into her, could he?
No, no...She hated people like him! He had got some money and thought he could do whatever he wanted!
"Stop, stop!"
Vivian's cheeks were hot and she pulled hard on the door. She had to stay away from this man! Better not have anything to do with him ever again!
Jonathan released her and looked at the pale pink appearing on her cheeks. He curled his thin lips, "Zack, stop the car."
"What?" Zack froze, "Yes, Mr. Luke."
The car stopped and Vivian pushed the door open and ran away in panic.
"Go ahead."
Jonathan calmly commanded as he closed the window glass. As he looked at Vivian, he gave her a beastly, fierce look...
"Ha..."
Vivian felt like her brain was starved of oxygen. She ran all along the sea bridge, screaming loudly, trying to calm herself down. However, she couldn't calm her heartbeat or breath anyway when she thought of the 'ruby' Jonathan had thrown into the sea...
In the car in front.
"Mr. Luke, now..." Zack was worried. Mr. Luke had severe insomnia and had let Vivian go. What was he going to do tonight?
Jonathan closed his eyes and lifted a hand to pinch the bridge of his nose.
"Contact the therapist."
"OK."
The smell of the smoky scent of sleep aid was strong in the air in the villa, but Jonathan wasn't sleepy at all.
A different male therapist was on his way to start psychological counseling.
"Mr. Luke..."
"Wait a minute." Jonathan held up a hand to stop him, "I ask you and you answer my questions."
"OK."
Jonathan frowned and looked confused, "When I smell a particular smell, I can sleep peacefully. Why is that?"
"Really?" The therapist was surprised and delighted, "Mr. Luke, then your sleep must have improved quite a bit!"
"Cut the crap." Jonathan was impatient.
"Yes." The therapist nodded, "Psychologically, the smell should have a strong connection to you..."
Jonathan frowned, "Give me more details."
"For example,...it has something to do with your past experiences or memories." The therapist chuckled, "If it's a thing that gives off this smell, it must be an old object; if it's someone's smell, then..."
Hearing this, Jonathan frowned and was staring at him.
"It should be someone...important to you, like an old acquaintance."
Jonathan froze. Very important...old acquaintance? Vivian Swift? How was that possible? He hadn't seen her before!
