Chapter 16 No One Will Insult You
The delinquent advertising fees went into the account, and Vivian made a great achievement.
The supervisor looked at her even more pleasantly, "Vivian, I think you have a lot of potential, so why don't you stay in the advertising department?"
"Sir, I still want to go back to the news group. It's not my specialty after all." Vivian declined.
She had a hard time saying it. She didn't have any potential at all, and it was all just Jonathan's doing.
"Why don't you...think about it some more?" The supervisor sighed and wasn't about to give up, "I really value you as a talent."
When she went out of the supervisor's office, the colleagues outside were talking.
"How does she have so much talent as an intern?"
"Haven't you seen her pretty face? Probably..."
"She's out."
Seeing her out, her colleagues shut up and scattered in all directions.
Vivian's face was pale and she clenched her hands. She was new to the workplace and had never been so humiliated. But the funny thing was none of these were in fact humiliations. The facilities Jonathan had given her weren't exactly glorious either.
She shook her head, put those thoughts aside, and concentrated on her work.
There was a jewelry launch event this afternoon, and their website was one of the regional promoters.
The event took place in Durban International Convention Center. Vivian and her colleagues arrived early and were in charge of organizing the promotion on site, which was tedious but not complicated. Vivian was sidelined by her colleagues so she had to do odds and ends.
"Vivian, you go get some food and drinks."
"OK."
Vivian answered and turned to get it.
There was a buffet area at the venue. It was still early and there wasn't much of a crowd. Vivian walked straight to the table, grabbed a tray, and got some food and drinks.
As she turned around, she heard strange noises.
"Um...ah..."
Vivian frowned. That sounded like a woman in pain? She felt confused and followed the sound. She found that the sound was coming from behind the curtain.
"Miss, are you all right?" Vivian raised her right hand and revealed an embarrassing scene when she lifted the curtain!
Behind the curtain, Hudson and Valerie were hugging and their clothes were in disarray. And the 'pain' sound was exactly what Valerie made.
All three of them were shocked and Valerie became arrogant immediately. She looked coldly at Vivian, "So it's you, Hudson's fake sister!"
Vivian got distracted and dropped the tray on the floor. The food on the tray spilled out and the cake got on Valerie's shoes.
Valerie was so annoyed that she finally got the chance to point at Vivian and yell at her, "What are you doing? Do you know how much my shoes cost? I don't wear cheap clothes like you! See what you did to my shoes? You did this on purpose!"
"..." Vivian felt embarrassed and angry. She took out a tissue and handed it to her, saying through clenched teeth, "Wipe it?"
Valerie snickered, "You wipe it!"
"..." Vivian was startled and looked at Hudson.
Hudson was guilty and busily took the tissue, smiling to please her, "Don't be so angry. Let me help you wipe it..."
Valerie disagreed and gave him a hard stare and growled, "Are you distressed? Are you guys really brother and sister? Is it some kind of shady relationship?"
Shady relationship? Why was she as "the third person" so arrogant these days?
"Humph." Vivian didn't hold back and scoffed out loud.
Valerie heard her laugh and went on the rampage, snatching up tissue and throwing it in Vivian's face, "You wipe it off! Otherwise..."
She looked at the uniform Vivian was wearing and bossed her around, "You're here to work, aren't you? I'll complain to your boss! We are VIPs who have been invited by invitation..."
"..." Vivian looked embarrassed and angry. She stared at Hudson, clenching her fists.
How she wished he would say something for her at this point, but he didn't...Hudson's eyes were dodgy and he didn't dare look at her at all!
It was so quiet that it was as if people could hear a pin drop on the ground.
Vivian was isolated and could only bend down and crouch down slowly...
On the veranda outside the door, Jonathan, dressed casually, with Zack, happened to pass by to see the scene.
"Well," Jonathan, looking a little bit angry, ordered gruffly towards Zack, "You go."
"OK!"
Zack walked right in without saying a word.
"Miss Swift."
Vivian was just about to wipe Valerie's shoes when Zack's voice pulled her up from the abyss of humiliation.
"Mr. Tout..."
Hudson and Valerie were stunned. Naturally, they knew Zack, the special assistant to Durban's Mr. Luke, who was rarely seen, and very few people had ever met him. Mr. Tout was basically Jonathan's spokesman.
At this moment, Zack didn't pay any attention to them at all but stood in front of Vivian respectfully and said softly, "Miss Swift, I have been looking for you for a long time. So there you are! Mr. Luke is waiting for you in the private room!"
Hudson and Valerie looked at each other. What was going on here? Zack Tout said Mr. Luke, so it was Jonathan Luke? Jonathan Luke was waiting for Vivian...What was their relationship?
Supported by dignity, Vivian bit her lower lip and stood up immediately. She looked at Zack with a smile on her face, "Yeah? He's been waiting for a long time. I'm on my way."
"OK, Miss Swift. Please..."
Zack then glanced at Hudson and Valerie coldly and said indifferently, "Move out of Miss Swift's way, please. Can you afford to be responsible if you upset Mr. Luke?"
"...OK."
Hudson hurriedly pulled Valerie over to the side. Neither of them recognized what happened.
"Miss Swift, this way..."
Vivian followed Zack to Jonathan's private room, where Jonathan fondled the antique lighter with his right hand with a teasing smile, "Here you are."
"Mr. Luke, I'm going out." Zack bowed and closed the door and went out.
"...Thanks." Vivian pouted, "Well...I'm leaving too."
Jonathan suddenly stood up and pressed closer to her, bending down slightly, "You want to leave even if I helped you? It's a bad habit. I'd be unhappy."
"And what would you do?" Vivian tilted her head up to look into his deep eyes as if they were a vortex and she would fall if she saw them too much. "I'm not for sale anyway!"
"OK, I agree with you. You're not a commodity and I'm not buying you. Be my woman...no one in this world will insult you any more!" Jonathan curled his lips. The lighter lid in his right hand closed and he slipped it into his pocket. With his long arms, he took Vivian in his arms.
The warm breath on her face tickled her, "Try it? Didn't we hit it off well that night?"
Vivian's cheeks heated and she wanted to speak. She wasn't quite sure what 'try' meant.
"You..."
"If you agree, everyone will kneel at your feet!" Jonathan was certain, confident, and arrogant.
