Chapter 10 Why Are You Afraid of Me?
On the weekend, Aria returned home, the home she never wanted but had to go back, which belonged to someone else.
The only reason she felt this way was because her mother was in this family.
In front of the French window, Aria looked out the window as usual. That leaf was the only thing she liked. Regardless of spring, summer, autumn, and winter, the tree was always so lonely, just like her.
"You are finally willing to come back?" Alexander's voice was slightly cold.
Aria's mood was interrupted instantly, and the so-called loneliness and silence disappeared instantly.
"Brother." Aria turned her head but did not meet Alexander's eyes. Her gaze swept away from him, then turned to the door, "Uh... I'm going to the bathroom!"
"Aria Rice!" Alexander grabbed the arm of the girl who was about to escape, "Am I the devil?"
"Ha-ha, of course not!" Aria pretended to smile nonchalantly, but in the seemingly unsuspecting gaze, there was an undisguised distance.
"Why are you afraid of me?"
Why?
Aria didn't know why.
"Afraid of you? I don't think so?" Aria smirked again. It shouldn't be afraid, but... dreadful, dreadful of any time she had spent with him, because she would unconsciously think of that night, of how he and another woman entwined together.
"Fine!" Alexander looked at her with a smile, "If not, stay here today and don't leave!"
Stay, and not go?
Why were these words so ambiguous and... full of sarcasm when they reached Aria's ears?
"Well..." Aria grabbed her hair unnaturally, "I have to work tonight, and..."
"Aria!" Alexander looked at her, "If you see something that night, please automatically block it, because the fact is not what you think. If you didn't see anything that day, then... be yourself naturally. Seeing you acting so awkward, I really want to..."
"Aria..." A woman's gentle voice came from the door. When she saw Alexander, she couldn't help but freeze, and then the smile on her face became even brighter, "Alexander, you are home too? Come down to dinner. Your dad is already waiting downstairs."
"Okay!" Alexander answered flatly, his eyes swept across Aria's face seriously, and then came across Lora Grossman.
Watching Alexander's tall and handsome figure gradually fade away, Lora approached her daughter hastily...
"Naughty girl, you don't even miss mom, but miss the handsome one? As soon as you came back, you stayed in the same room with Alexander. Are you here to accompany your mother or the handsome guy?"
"Mom, what nonsense are you talking about? Knock it off!" Aria turned and walked out the door. She's not having this conversation with her mother who's showing a game face right now.
Maybe in this world, only she and dad knew the "truth" about her mother? She was so gentle and virtuous, but internally... but she was such a gossip woman!
The three of them had used to have a happy family. But now...
"Tell mom, do you like Alexander? Does he like you as well? Are you..."
"Ms. Lora Grossman, does your new husband know you are such a gossip woman?" Aria looked at her mother with a serious face. For a moment, she didn't understand why her mother could get out of such great grief given she loved her dad so dearly? Was it just because this man was rich?
For an instant, Aria suddenly hated rich people!
"You naughty girl. It's been so long, but you still refuse to call him Dad?" Lora looked at her daughter in distress, her nerves for gossiping disappearing already.
"My dad is in heaven! He is just a... rich businessman who has nothing to do with me!" Aria turned to look away. She didn't want to hurt her mother, but she hated her a bit somehow.
In order to live a richer life, she just forgot about her father like this?
In fact, this was also the reason why Aria refused to live in the Turner's Family and refused to spend a penny they gave to her.
During dinner, Aria just bowed her head to eat, because besides James Turner who joined them at dinner, Alexander was also sitting next to her...
