Chapter 9 Cousin Sarah Jewell
"Chynna ran back like that yesterday. She seemed to lose half of her soul. Did anything happen to her?" The voice came from Chynna's aunt, the wife of her uncle.
"Ouch, what could have happened? She went to a high-society party as if a toad wished to eat swan meat. Do you think anyone would be interested in her? After a blow, she ran back in dejection."
The shrill and thin female voice was too piercing. This person was Chynna's cousin, Sarah Jewell.
On that day, when Farrah called Chynna and asked her to attend the party, Sarah heard their conversation accidentally and told her mother at once.
"Precisely. She doesn't even look at herself, a daughter of a down-and-out family. She thinks she is like you. If my Sarah had gone to the party, a lot of people would have been fascinated by you."
"Right. What a pity! I didn't have time to go there yesterday. Otherwise, I would have shown them what a beautiful woman I was."
Then, they burst into laughter. Sarah Jewell felt so confident forever.
Three years ago, loss suddenly incurred in a project of Chynna's father's company. Chynna's parents almost lost the entire company. To seek the help of a friend, who had tremendous financial strength, they drove to the other city that very night.
They didn't expect a car accident on the halfway. On the point of death, they pleaded Chynna's uncle to take in Chynna, who was still a student. They also promised to gift all the house properties to her uncle's family.
She didn't expect that her aunt, who had seemed to be affable when her parents had been still alive, changed her face immediately after they passed away.
As for this cousin, she had always been acting like this as if she were an eyesore.
Chynna's sister got married a year later, but she continued to live at her uncle's house.
Although she often had to endure some mocking words at her uncle's house, she would graduate in one more year.
Chynna intended to rent an apartment to live outside once she had graduated and had had some financial capacity.
Thinking of this, Chynna took a deep breath. She made up her mind that she would ignore whatever the mother and daughter said when she went out.
She pushed open the door and saw the mother and daughter sitting in the living room.
Seeing Chynna come out, Sarah stood up at once and walked up to her.
Sarah looked at Chynna with some jealousness. She wasn't a fool. She could see that Chynna was prettier than her, although she had never admitted it.
At this moment, she wore an exquisite make-up, a short and sexy skirt of Dior, and a Birkin bag of Hermès. However, she couldn't compare with Chynna, who wore some ordinary clothes and had a natural beauty.
Thinking of this, Sarah clenched her teeth in bitter hatred.
Sarah had known that she was beautiful and had always been proud of her beauty since she was little.
But, when she saw Chynna, she realized that there was someone more beautiful than her. Since then, she had been crazily jealous of this cousin!
"Chynna, you did go to the party yesterday." Seeing Chynna come out, Sarah raised her eyes and asked coldly.
Chynna didn't respond. She didn't want to say anything more to this cousin.
"I'm telling you, don't spin a daydream. Do you think you can marry a rich husband because you are a good-looking girl? Ha-ha, don't be naïve. Nowadays, people prefer a marriage between families of equal social rank. You neither have parents nor can afford a Hermès bag. Do you think those magnates will like you? They only trifle with your affections. If you let them dally with you for nothing, your actions will disgrace the Jewell family."
