Chapter 1 She Is No Longer the One She Used to Be

The rain pattered constantly.

The temperature which was less than 5°C made the quiet street more deserted.

Aanisah Brook felt her body heavy and tired, moving forward step by step. The rain wetted her cheeks, and the thin clothes were tightly attached to her body. She looked so haggard as if her soul had been drawn away from her body.

Like a nightmare, what had happened last night replayed mechanically in her brain over and over again.

That dark room, the terrible sound...

She didn't know why she fell asleep after drinking a glass of juice, let alone why she woke up in a hotel room, but she knew exactly what had happened to her.

She... was no longer a virgin.

Aanisah's heart hurt as if it was torn.

Looking up to see the pattering rain, Aanisah took a hard breath, and kept comforting herself inwardly, "It's okay! It doesn't matter!"

When she went back home, her stepmother Bess Pinky and her sister Peggy Brook were sitting on the sofa in the living room, talking about the TV series they had watched last night. When they heard the door opened, the two of them couldn't help stopping talking and turning to look at the door.

"Ah, you are finally back?" Peggy looked at Aanisah up and down with contempt. There was undisguised mockery in her voice, "You didn't come back home last night. You must have had a HAPPY night, huh?"

Aanisah paused for a moment, but then without even looking at them, she turned and walked toward her room.

In this family, apart from her father, she didn't think anyone cared about her life or death. Even her half-sister would only laugh at her when she was embarrassed!

Therefore, she didn't care about their attitudes, let alone their views on her.

But.

How could she explain this to Johnny?

How could she tell him the fact that she was raped?

Bess pulled her daughter's sleeve, and then she stood up and walked towards Aanisah, asking in a tentative tone, "Are you okay?"

Aanisah was taken aback for a moment, then her gaze slowly turned to the woman next to her. Under her gaze, Bess escaped to one side immediately. Aanisah's heart hitched, as if she realized something, her voice hoarse and low, "It was you, wasn't it?"

"What's wrong with me?" Bess frowned, "Why are you looking at me like this? I just asked the question to care about you. Why are you treating me like this? I'm telling you, if your dad knows that you didn't come back home last night..."

"If my dad knows that you plotted to harm me, he will definitely not let you go!" Last night, Bess deliberately treated her nicely and even offered her a glass of juice. But less than an hour after she drank it, she fell asleep. When she finally woke up, it was already this morning...

"I harmed you? How did I harm you?" Bess's voice suddenly rose, "Aanisah, don't you slander me! Even if you want to wrong me, you'd better show me the evidence!"

"I was bullied. Does it count?" Aanisah suddenly yelled, tears welling up along with the grievances in her heart.

"Ah? You were... bullied?" Peggy exclaimed as if she had heard some earth-shattering anecdote, but there was a burst of joy in her heart.

Bess paused for a second, but she was not surprised. Although her voice was not as sharp as just now, she was still domineering, "You were bullied, but why am I involved?"

"Bess, you?"

"Buzz..." At this moment, Bess's phone rang. She took a glance at the phone number and then picked it up immediately. As soon as she started talking, she was unprecedentedly proud, "Hello? Isaac, were you satisfied last night?"

"Fuck your satisfaction! Bess Pinky, how dare you lie to me!" An angry roar from a middle-aged man sounded on the phone.

"Lied to you? I didn't..."

"The hell I waited at the hotel all night long! But where is the girl you promised to send to me? To see the fucking ghost?"

Bess couldn't help turning her head to look at Aanisah, and said, "You... didn't see her?" Then who bullied her?

"Stop talking nonsense! Listen to me, you have three days to either bring me her or money. Otherwise, I'll get you fucked up!" After speaking, the man hung up angrily.

Listening to the beep sound on the phone, Bess felt depressed.
